Bristol's former WBC champion Glenn Catley will fight against rock-hard Russian Sergey Kharchenko on Saturday 24th February 2007 at the new 2000 seater venue Filton College WISE Campus, Bristol.

Kharchenko, 13-7-2, who fights out of Spain, is likely to provide Catley with a stiff test in his second fight since he announced his comeback with a third round stoppage victory over Hussain Osman in November. Known as El Gladiator in Spain, the 25-year-old Russian took former European champion Danilo Haussler to a split decision over eight rounds in Copenhagen in October before giving Frenchman Christophe Tendil all the trouble he could handle before losing on points in a contest for the vacant IBC 12 stone title in France only last month.

Promoter Chris Sanigar said: "Kharchenko is a durable fighter who has never been stopped. He's recently boxed in a 12 round fight and is sure to extend Glenn. Our man needs to get rounds under his belt and the Russian will give him the kind of test we hoped Osman would. That didn't happen in November, because Osman backed off after Glenn hurt him early on. But this fight could be a real tear up.

“I am pleased to have found a new venue in Bristol that can stage the larger events. Catley, Haskins and Alliss are only a couple of wins away from boxing for major titles so it's important to have a venue that can hold the bigger crowds that these fighters attract.”

Lee Haskins returns at Bantamweight following his unsuccessful challenge for the Commonwealth Title against the exceptional South African Tshifhiwa Munyai. Lee faces Ghanaian Sumaila Badu (12 Wins 4 Losses) who also challenged unsuccessfully for the Commonwealth Bantamweight Title in October 2004 losing a 12 round decision to Joseph Agbeko. Stroud's Leigh Alliss also faces Ghanaian opposition in Enoch Quaye (7 Wins 4 Losses).

Bristol's undefeated prospects Danny Butler and Darren Hamilton will also appear on the five fight Bristol card and tickets for the event, priced at £25, £30 and £40 are still on sale. These can be booked by calling Chris or Jamie Sanigar on 0117 9496699.
