Default How should Marquez go about fighting Barrera ?

This fight will be decided on tactical awareness and who makes the least mistakes but how will the fighters tactically approach this one ? We know what to expect from Barrera at this stage . He is far more relaxed character these days . Marquez however is evolving as a fighter . Will he try and take the play away from Marco

The way I see it , Barrera is a fighter who learnt to box whereas Marquez is a boxer who is learning to fight . I think Juan will be the guy forcing the fight , pressing the action and looking to make a statement . Barrera has nothing to prove so may not be as hungry but it is a Mexican civil war and whenever theres a Mexican in the opposite corner , we see the intensity and animal come out in Barrera

No matter how Marquez comes out I still see Barrera having a little too much for him, just depends on how much the guys got left in him at this stage of his career.

Marquez should box. If he tries to be too aggressive (like with Jaca) and not use his great boxing ability, it will be an exciting fight, but he'll lose.

    I couldn't click just 1.
As to beat MAB you can't do the same thing over and over as he'll catch on and figure it out...

JMM needs to mix it up start off with some uppercuts and straight right hands, some educated pressure as you say.

Then he needs to apply pressure and voulme punching.

In the middle rounds I think he should use his ring generalship and try to outbox MAB with his skills.

Then towards the end brawl, impress the judges if does well early in the fight with volume punching and aggression and he closes out the show brawling he'll get the decision..... IMO

Anyone think there's a realistic chance of Barrera getting KO'd? Just out of curiousity

Yeah thats pretty much mixing his work and trying to impress judges in what looks like a distance fight . Doing the same thing wont work cuz both men will be adjusting as the fight goes on .

A tactical approach from Marquez will ensure little action and little mistakes by both men . I cant see Marquez doing enough to take a title that way

Educated pressure would play right into Barreras hands . Marquez would be in punching distance like Juarez was , leading , being first but being open to counters . Barrera would box him at his own comfortable pace doing that

High volume agression from Marquez would be interesting but I doubt he could keep it up cuz it isnt his style . Marquez cant try to beat Barrera the way Pac did cuz he isnt Manny Pacquiao . Its a high risk tactic cuz if it fails after 6 rounds will he have enough to see out the last 6 .

box fighting would be his best chance IMO . Barreras got a heavier jab so Marquez has to make him uncomfortable by fighting him up close when Barrera wants to box and when Barreras wanting to engage then Marquez has to frustrate him by boxing . Its a big ask but there is no easy way to beat Barrera

If Marquez brawls with Barrera he'd be mad IMO . Barrera has faster hands and is a bigger hitter IMO . Erik came off second best with that tactic against Marco and I think Eriks a better fighter than Marquez . The intensity and focus will be there with Barrera so brawling wont suit Marquez at all .

Its hard to envision Marquez winning but if the judges like what he's doing he can pull off an upset . He just has to get it right and hope Marco isnt at his best cuz if he is JMMs in trouble
