    Default Joey Gilbert.......The new Goldenboy?

Got to give this kid credit. He defended his NABO belt over the weekend with a 12 round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Michi Munoz.

Not only that but he PROMOTED the whole fight card!

This guy is a pro boxer, a lawyer, the chief spokesperson for Stallone's muscle building product range, flies over to Irag and Afghanistan regularly to put on exhibitions and support the American troops, and is now turning his hand to promoting!

Does this guy have more hours in the day than the rest of us? Seriously he must never sleep or something he's like the most productive man on earth.

Boxrec (for what its worth) now rate him 30th at supermiddle, not bad for someone who has had only 15 fights.

He was my favourite fighter on the Contender show and it's really looking like he may actually go onto be a somebody in the middleweight division.

    Good luck to him!

Yeah I'm real disappointed I wasn't able to attend the bout. I was supposed to be in Tahoe this weekend but it just didn't work out. He's going to be holding regular bouts at this place though at the Stateline, it's a hotel separated down the middle by the Nevada - California state line. It was said to be a booming success, sold out in fact. Which is amazing considering the last undercard bout had a guy making his pro debut. The massive amount of snowfall helped him though. As luck would have it the card fell on the biggest tourist weekend of the year because of all the new snow.

Hopefully it draws other promoters to Tahoe because the place is really ready for boxing. Cheers to Gilbert on the victory and the show.

Clever kid, one of the nice guys in the business, very dedicated, and looks like he can really fight as well.

Yeah but he did look very raw in there. Manfredo caught him flush several times, especially in rounds 4 and 5.

He's got tremendous heart, strength and conditioning though. The way he beat Lange the first time around was the highlight of the whole show for me.

After dominating the first two rounds, then injuring his leg and getting pounded for the next two before in the final round just walking through Lange's punches and battering him, whilst his dad dressed up the Supreme Commander of the American military stands up and yells' FINISH HIM NOW!' as Joey floors him in the final seconds.............man that fight was epic, better than any Rocky movie!

I get tingles now just thinking about it!

from what i can remember he boxed a lot in the southpaw stance in the contender despite bein an orthodox fighter. maybe somethin to do with him injuring his right calf or whatever it was but he was never going to win the show. did well to get where he did and get beat the way he did.

i thought it was the first two rounds when he took the clean shots nd i was impressed that he never got knocked out as they where realy solid shots he was taking nd i remember i was watched that fight with my old dear nd she was saying she could see a rib sticking out although i dint c it but credit to him he took the next 2 round to even it up going into the 5th its just a shame about the cut
