    Default Barrera - Marquez DISCUSS...

Sorry guys... I dont agree with the scores..

It was mighty close...And all my worries from the start of the fight were right.. Three judges were introduced and i thought..I dont particularly recognise these... Which caused me to worry that lower level judges would not score a fight like your typical big fight experianced judges..Guy jutras, larry hazard, glen hamada etc..

Gota say first..An excellent fight and huge props to both fighters and indeed jmm...
And its not marquez's win that annoys me even though i had barrera up a point..
Its just the fact that the win came on such an astonishingly large margine..
One judge having marquez up 10 rounds to 2 !!

How you feel about this decision?..
Personally i think the way to go from here is to just select these typical experianced judges and say..
Right...These judges judge the superfights.. Lots more are very capable..But we gota have the right things done in such big circumstances and last night they werent..

I scored it the same as you...the missed knockdown would have made it a more decisive result with Barrera winning by 2 points....

I couldnt believe what I was hearing when I heard the 118-109 card!!! God knows what that judge had been watching, but no way was it the fight I was seeing!!!

I dont think Barrera lost that fight. But then again I didnt think Hopkins lost the first Taylor fight and I didnt think Toney lost the first Peter fight. But my bitching sure as hell doesnt change anything!! Marquez got the verdict and I have to leave it at that. At the end of the day it was a very close fight and you could make a case for either fighter in a wonderful fight...

A review of who judges these big fights would be nice. Close fights like this dont need to be mocked with oulandish scorecards that really do not reflect the fight that the majority of boxing fans saw. If you thought Marquez won then you thought it was close. If you though Barrera won then you would also have thought it close. It is nigh on IMPOSSIBLE to watch that fight and see it as 118-109 Marquez!! A shameful scorecard indeed!!!

Mann Its not atall that marquez won...He is a great fighter..

The hard thing to accept is that in future when people look back at barrera..The guy they heard was a total ring legend 20 odd years ago..They'll see his record and think..Well.. This marquez cat owned him..

I agree with you. The scorecards do not reflect the fight I saw.

sorry dont know whats been going on but i see this

Barrera and Marquez put on a good show, but the judges' score's were very questionable. In other words, Barrera was robbed. Marquez hurt Barrera with a hard right hand in round seven, but Marquez was dropped shortly after from a picture-perfect right-hand-for-a-right-hand and Barrera hit him again while Marquez was on his hands because the referee failed to jump in immediately. The knockdown was not called and Barrera was penalized a point for hitting marquez while he was down. Marquez was not as aggressive as he was in the early going from that point on and Barrera continuously beat marquez to the punch, and was out-landing him. Emmanuel Steward commented on the judges' scoring saying it was very confusing how Barrera has given that city so many great fights, and the judges' turned around and robbed him like that.
