Tainted Roadkill To Blame?DiBella Blasts Miranda As Mayorga Light!

If Edison "Pantera" Miranda wants to play rough, then Harvard man and Jermain Taylor promoter Lou DiBella is more than willing to hit low. Miranda's volcanic and venomous spew which the middleweight contender delivered exclusively to Ricardo Lois at www.boxingconfidential.com, had DiBella boiling over Wednesday night.

You get into trash talking with the Ivy Leaguer and former HBO boxing boss, bring your protective cup, son.

"Miranda? Oh, that Miranda," DiBella said haughtily. "He can badmouth Jermain, he can badmouth Cory Spinks and whoever he wants. But facts are facts and Edison is nothing more than (Ricardo) Mayorga Light. This guy must have eaten some tainted roadkill back in Colombia or something.

"For all of Mayorga's insanity, it was spontaneous. This guy does a bad impression of Mayorga. It's all scripted with Miranda. He is always making silly videos. He can say he wouldn't fight a junior middleweight (Spinks) who is a world champion and who is ranked No. 1 by Ring magazine. But he might if was getting a seven figure purse like Jermain Taylor is. Of course, if he did fight Cory, Cory would just dance around him, shut him out for 12 rounds and never get hit on the chin even once. Put Miranda in with the top fighters...with Kessler, with Calzaghe, with Jermain, with Winky (Wright) or Hopkins...every one of those guys would knock Miranda out and just beat him to a pulp," DiBella said.

DiBella's return rant was not done.

"If Allan Green had a little more courage, then Miranda would've lost his last fight. I will grant that he should've got the win over Arthur Abraham and that he should've become the IBF champ and that he should be undefeated. But he's not, he's not and he's not. He talks about knocking people on their ass...now getting knocked on your ass is something Miranda knows about. He's been there. Jermain has never been knocked on his ass."

Finally, DiBella offered some free and immediate career advice for Miranda, who may be facing Top Rank's middleweight title hopeful Kelly "The Ghost" Pavlik in the HBO co-feature to Taylor-Spinks (May 19, Memphis).

"I respect the guy and an up-and-coming middleweight, yeah," DiBella said. "But he better focus on Kelly Pavlik and see if he can put Kelly Pavlik on his ass. He better shut up and see if he can beat Pavlik. If he can then maybe we can all make some money with Taylor-Miranda. But, until proven otherwise, Edison is just Mayorga Light"

Ouch. That's enough to make a panther whine like an alley cat. A diet of "tainted roadkill" and Mayorga Light.

I have the feeling Neon Leon Margules better start battling back because he can't let a rival promoter leave his Panther on the verbal ropes. You play the dozens with DiBella and he reverts to his Brooklyn roots.
