Default Forget the Calzaghe mismatch, give it up for Diego Corrales!!!

Lets forget about the BS stoppage and mismatch, and all around joke that Calzaghe fight was. What about Corrales? This crazy bastard jumped up two weight classes and took on one of the very best Welterweights in the world, and he got knocked down, he didn't win, but he didn't do too bad either. Diego fought in the pocked with Clottey, taking countless uppercuts, maybe even suffering a broken jaw by the end. But he didn't complain, he didn't back off, he just kept on coming, trying to knock Clottey out. It really was a WAR, and Corrales fought like a warrior as always. You have got to love Corrales people, he's lost three straight fights now, but he's not ready to give up. I personally think that Clottey is one of the absolute worst opponents Corrales could have chosen to fight, and he could still do well at 140 if he could get down there, or make one last superfight with Arturo Gatti. How about Corrales people?

Diego is one of my favorite fighters, I wish I could've seen the fight last night, hell, I wish I could watch it today, but it doesn't look like they're going to show it up here... I'm disappointed that he lost, but it sure sounds like Corrales went down swinging and by the sounds of it he didn't look too out of place at 147. There's certainly no shame in losing to Clottey (the same guy who was giving Margarito hell until he broke his hand), especially after jumping two classes to WW. I would love to see a Corrales vs Gatti contest, my money would be on Corrales, but maybe thats just the fan in me talking.

CC. Well, Corrales took a beating, but he did manage to go the full 10 rounds. He lost a Unanimous Decision. I dunno who'd I'd take in a Gatti vs Corrales match up. I might have to lean towards Gatti honestly myself. It could be a hell of a war though.

The more I think about it, the more I think Gatti-Corrales would be a pick 'em fight, the only safe bet is that it wouldn't go the distance. Gatti might be more suited to the WW division than Chico though, at least he's had a few more fights there, allowing him to adjust to the weight, and that could give him the advantage.

I beleive the commentator said something along the lines of...

He might not win or do great in ever fight, but he'll never be short of fans

Hes a great fighter and i hope he leaves the game with a couple big wins and a legacy that tells what a great fighter hes been

Yeah, the name's a Pantera reference, one of my favorite bands... I had the distinct pleasure of seeing one of their last concerts.

What happened to Dime was terrible man, total tragedy, perpetrated by some mentally disturbed F**k who robbed the world of a great talent. I'd send ya a CC back, if i could.

Clottey is one of my favorite fighters out there, but Chico did Sacramento proud last night. There's a few fighters in boxing I know I will never forget til I'm on my deathbed, and Corrales is one of them. Awesome fighter, would love to see him and Gatti go at it.

Clotteys a good puncher but crtinly not the hadest hitter in the division. I cant see Corrales being succesful againsty any top ten Welterweight except maybe Arturo and i think he would lose that one too. Hes had a long punishing career and hes a smart articulate guy. I dont want to see his heart cost him his brain by taking on these bigger men at this point in his career. I think he should think about retirement.

I hate Diego's feminine eyelashes and sissy voice, but I love his courage... I was so happy that he managed to go the distance that I forgot how much I disliked those meaningless things.

Well, meaningless to boxing... he still could be... you know.

The Coralles fight was superb, nice for boxing to redeem itself after the Calzaghe farce.

I still think Corrales will do well at the box office whether he wins his fights or not. Let's face it if Diego Coralles is fighting you KNOW you will get your moneys worth.

Even in defeat he impressed me last night, he stood up to some thunderous shots from Clottey and kept coming back.

I would say it's 99% certain that he will be fighting Zab Judah before the end of the year as Zab tries to rebound from his loss to Cotto. What a great fight that would be!

As for Gatti Corrales, come on people there is no way that Gatti hangs with Corrales! It will be a great fight but Corrales will put him away inside 5 rounds.

You honestly think Arturo Gatti could have gone 10 rounds with Joshua Clottey? It would have been a beatdown.

Gatti's best match out there is probably Alfonso Gomez, another exciting but limited fighter, that would make for a great Gatti style slugfest.

Don't put him in with Corrales, Diego would kill him.

Brilliant insight. That forecast could easily come to fruition.
