Heya...I'm not any huge expert but i can relay a little wisdom from a guy i know who is.
He reckons muscle has fantastic "memory." Once u develop a muscle to an extent once, (and then let it slip so to speak) it is a lot easier to rebuild that muscle in comparison to when you first achieved such condition. However he also believes that once u reach ur thirties it becomes much more important to maintain constant condition as once u slip the opposite happens and it becomes considerably harder as the body depreciates in condition.

im only 22 so that aint a problem, i knew about muscle memory i was wondering how long it would take to reach the point i was at before i became bed bound. Only asking because i saw myself in the mirror and i have some weights at home and thought i could do my arms from my bed but i have gone from curling 20kg in sets of 8 with ease to struggling to do one rep with 20kg. i'd put some of that down to me coming off creatine aswell.

Do you mind me to ask you what happened to cause you to become bedridden?

If I remember correctly Bruce Lee damaged is lower vertebrae by doing too much weight on a good morning back exercise. This injury caused him to literally stay bed bound and flat on his back for 6 months. He couldn't exercise, but he found confort in reading plenty of self-help and motivation books to defy what doctors said was impossible. They said he be lucky to walk let alone do martials arts.

Willie Pep got in a terrific airplane crash that made the commision propose a 500k settlement as compesation but would mean he'd have to hang up the gloves. He managed to overcome his injuries and get back in the ring.

There are many other miracle stories, and there are books on it that are worth checking out.

I'f you've fallen on some hard times I'd recommend that you use the time to heal and to spend time thinking about doing all the stuff that you'd like to do. Catch up on some reading, come up with a game plan, just don't make the mistake of getting yourself into more harm too soon.

Being injured always sucks but sounds like you're on your way back.

I had to stop training for a while and although I haven't got my aerobic capacity back fully yet I've got more muscle now than I had pre-injury.

I don't think it'll take long to get it back so don't stress too much about it.

I spent a lot of my injured time researching things like this forum and found a heap of things which will make me better than I would have been without the enforced break and reflection time.

I also found my time being injured helped me discover other form of training which were easier on my body but made me fitter and stronger.

I had a system before injuring myself that I enjoyed but it wasn't the healthiest. Being injured woke me up to that.

As I continue to recover I'll adopt my old training ways back to an extent but I've got a few more things in my routine now I don't want to give up.

i snapped my leg from my ankle, and to make it worse they couldnt operate for a few days after because the swelling was that bad, i have had plates or some form of metal put in to hold it together til it heals, was a right mess, im not exactly bed bound but even resting the leg/pot makes it hurt, the pain is like one of them ab belts that gives you shocks wrapped round my calf and foot, im not allowed to put any weight on it and to top it off i have to go have the pot took off every week to check on how its coming on, i am dreading having the staples removed that were binding my flesh together after the op.

my weight has gone from around 15 stone down to 13.5 stone in just over a month. Kind of wish i did more c.v instead of just powerlifting, im going to have a right gut

Hang tough dude. You'll get over it, you know that you just need to give it time to heal. Are you stuck in bed for the time being? As for exercise if I were you I would get some grippers or something to strengthen your hands. There's the captain of crush hand grippers which can be pretty tough. Just don't do any insane stunts while your leg is giving you hell.

More like they'll fall off from overuse after 6 weeks.
