I mean Diaz is really just another guy.

He didn't look good at all versus Kendall Holt and didn't look good at all for the first 10 or so rounds of the Santa Cruz fight. Credit to him for managing to pull it out but that was Santa Cruz. He's a very limited guy, who would have have pretty much no shot against guys like Juan Diaz, Joel Casamayor. He's slow, kinda plodding, not even that busy from what I've seen, and pretty easy to hit. I guess he's reasonably tough.

There's no need to go into how much better Morales was prime for prime, that's beyond discussion, its just a question of is he too shot to even beat a very average guy? I'm afraid he might be. It would almost be worse if he wins, then he might decide he can take on the big boys of 135.

You hit the nail on the head. Its a lose lose situation especially for a Morales fan such as myself. He does not need to take this fight, even if he wins, how much credit does he get?He may also decide to continue which could be disastrous. On the other hand,if he loses,it'll tarnish his record even further.I'm really not keen on this fight.

His best bet would have been to jump divisions and take on Soliman M'Baye, even Gatti could have won that fight.

Although if he does beat Diaz he could always challenge Gavin Rees and the chance to become a 5 weight world champ..................

I think Morales beats Diaz with out much problems. There is no doubt that Morales is not the same fighter he once was. But I don't think he's totally shot yet. He's at a point in his career were he has no business being in the ring with fighters who are faster than him. Cuz speed will beat him. But fighters who you just come forward? I think Morales can still take them. Especially a guy like Diaz. Morales was in shape and came to fight in his third fight with Pac. But Pac's speed killed him. Diaz doesn't present that problem.

I don't know whether you're being sarcastic or not but it sounds like a good idea to me

I think he looked bad against Pacquiao in the third fight because he was weight drained. He may be better off at lightweight, I would love to see him put on a good showing.

Let's if I got this straight. Based on his win over the mediocre Souleymane M'baye. Rees is now I guess the next great British fighter, right?

I think it is over for Morales. And just hope that he does not get hurt. Even if he wins I hope he does not continue forward. But I don\'t think he can even beat Diaz at this stage in his career.

I don't know how much is left in morales to loose the way he did in his last fight raised some questions...i think diaz is a safe enough fight for him to impress some but not most and he does have a slim chance of loosing all together.

Diaz has never beaten a great fighter. Every good fighter he has fought he had trouble with. Hes never fought anyone on Morales' level and only fought past 10 rounds once. Morales should beat him if he has anything left.

On Morales being shot, what bothers me is he got knocked down in 3 rounds to Pacquiao in a fight where he didn't looked as drained going in as he did in the second Pac fight. He might be done, I hope this isn't the case being a huge Morales fan. El Terrible needs to box like he did against Ayala and not go in for an all out brawl.

As honest as I can be with you IMO, Morales is just waaaay past his best days. He has been since the end of the the 2nd Pac fight.
I would favor a handful of Lightweights over Morales at this point.

Damn! One of my all time favs.

I agree Mick that Morales is past his best but I still believe he has enough left to deal with Diaz!

Maybe I'm wrong but one thing is for sure: Morales won't go without a fight!

I don't agree it's a lose-lose situation. If he wins, then retires, it's a winning situation. He has said this will likely be his swansong. What Pacquiao did to him in the 3rd fight was pretty brutal though. It kinda looked like a beating a fighter can't recover from.
