Default Williams to meet Skelton for British title

Danny Williams is set to defend his British heavyweight title for the first time against Matt Skelton.

Skelton will look to avenge his only career defeat inflicted by Williams which he suffered in February 2006.

Williams beat Skelton to take his Commonwealth heavyweight title but was beaten by the Bedford boxer in a non-title fight in June .

The 'Brixton Bomber' won the British heavyweight title by beating Scott Gammer and will look to defend it against Skelton before the end of February 2008.

Audley Harrison is also looking to avenge his knock-out defeat to Michael Sprott and take his English Heavyweight title.

The pair contested the vacant title in February and Sprott recovered from going down in the first round to knock the 2000 Olympic champion out.

Harrison's career was left in tatters by the knock-out but he vowed to avenge the defeat after the contest.

He told www.bbc.co.uk: "I'll be back and hopefully I will have a chance to rectify it with Michael Sprott straight away."

Sprott must defend his title before the end of February and will be looking to bounce back from his defeat to Matt Skelton in July.

Both fights have been sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control.

Erm you appear to have dredged up an article from a year or so ago Ice.

Skelton vs Williams 3, Harrison vs Sprott 2.

This has to be a joke surely, I think our heavyweights are stuck in some kind of purgatory inspired time freeze.

Like the Greek King Sisyphus, forced to roll a large boulder up a hill for all eternity Skelton, Harrison, Williams et al seem to locked into the eternal punishment of a never ending merry go round of fights against each other.

Unfortunately though, their punishment is ours also as he we have to sit through and actually watch this crap.

Nice to see Frank Warren's promises of a title shot for Skelton are about as empty as the promises that the photographer gave the wannabe model in that Babybird Song.

I wonder if Frank ever actually sings to Matt 'Because, your'e gorgeous I'd do anything for you!!'

Frank Warren, nothing but a dirty low down pimp.

Seriously, i gained a bit of respect for danny after the williams showing, he got him self in great shape and really showed some heart, hell if i wasn't sitting press for it i woulnd not of minded paying for the showing!

but skelton? chance after fucking chance and still that talentless twat has the fucking nerve to step back in the ring? i swear anyone who sits and watches this fight is a bigger cunt than frank warren for putting it on in the first place.

skelton is a discrace and an embaressment to the piss poor excuse for the british heavyweight scene... i mean hell, i'm not the type of fan to slag a fighter off 'coz he isn't world class, i got respect and time for scott gammer, he isn't going to ever better the british heavyweight title, but the boy works hard and trys to put on a show... but skelton he is a discrace and a joke to boxing. He doesn't deserve to be in the ring or get paid either.

Bash Skelton if you must but isnt it evident that he's the best we have

I just wish Skelton would go back on the Euro circuit & beat some slighyly more credible opponents.
