    Default Kessler vs Pavlik/Taylor

Kessler has only improved in my eyes after the fight last night. He showed power, heart and skill, but was bettered by an all time great. How do people believe he would fair against the winner of the rematch between Taylor and Pavlik. To me, he seems a more technically capable version of Pavlik, with maybe a fraction less power. I now believe he has all of the attributes to beat either. Kessler Pavlik would be a great fight imo.

Well I don't know why people want a fight with Kess/Pavlik so quickly, let Pavlik reign at 160 for a minute. If he does move up, he needs to get 2 or 3 fights 1st at that weight before he touches with Kess. He needs to fight Miranda again at 168 and a definate fight with Andrade. Pavliks body is so thin that someone up there is going to find a way to capitalize on that thin frame. If he can win a couple of fights impessively at 168, then him and Kess is a given, unless Kess stumbles on the way. Pavlik will get off alot of punches on Kess, maybe not as many as Joe, but harder punches and if Kess gets gun shy with Pavlik he'll get backed up and put to sleep. Kess is strong though and will imo have to find a way to work that body. Kelly has height and reach advantages on Kess and Kelly knows how to capitalize on those advantages, and I'd bet Pavlik will punch harder with just those few pounds added on. Tough fight to call, but until I see Pavlik at 168 with some other guys I won't predict, though common sense dictates a small advantage to Kess because he's used to that division.

That would be great but I think he should go after Mundine again, take the WBA belt then aim for a rematch with Calzaghe when Calzaghe is over 40. By then his workrate have to have come down .

I'd love to see him destroy JT

I think he would beat both of these guys.

He looks to have a lot of power.

I know pavlik does a swell but am curious to how he will carry it up to 168.

If he carries it well we would be in for a real treat.

I think kessler would knock taylor the fuck out. He looks a pretty demon puncher, and taylor does have a pretty good chin, but i don't think he would last with kessler.

Pavlik is a dark horse coz the fucker and put anyone to sleep if he lands right, but i would go with kessler, hes got a pretty wicked defence and the power to screw pavlik up, fast as hell too.

I would like to see Kessler have a more then decent opponent for his comeback fight.
Someone like Froch, Bute or Lacy.

I don't see Pavlik moving up in weight at least not now. JT well maybe after he fights Pavlik a second time but how long 'til that happens.
Kessler needs to go back to fightin and wining.

Should froch beat reid then He will be the number 1 for the WBC strap i understand (fuck knows how they work that out tbu thats what the papers say) i can see froch and kessler fighting for the WBC belt with kessler knocking froch the hell out. See now way calzaghe will waste time fighting froch in a nothign fight for him now.

    Great Topic btw!

I give Kessler the advantage of strength and Pavlik the power edge.

Kelly has the type of frame that suggests he would actually punch harder at super middle than at middleweight as it would be a more natural weight for him. He is razor thin and has to stress himself to make 160. Just think of Thomas Hearns moving up to Super Welter, his power there was even more pronounced.

If Kelly does not abandon his jab, Kessler will have a very hard time beating him as his jab is simply a sledgehammer that takes the fight out of opponents. Kelly's jab is his money maker. Mikkel would have to get inside Pavlik's range, then pound him while slipping the jab to beat Pavlik. If he is not able to do it enough, Pavlik would get to him and stop him in the mid to latter rounds.

I think Pavlik is more beatable at 160, than he would be a 168. At 168 he just might become a monster. I see images of the Tall Thin punchers from the past like Hearns and Arguello who not only carried their power up with them, but actually seemed to improve their power while doing it.

Pavlik should stay at middle as it is a better division historically then SM.
But personally i think Pavlik would beat Kessler by KO if they fought at SM.
Kessler is not the puncher Pavlik is.

Kessler is faster, stronger, more durable, vastly more skilled, and would have a very easy time finding Pavlik. Pavlik doesn't present 1/5th of the challenges that Calzaghe posed Kessler, and Kessler showed a lot of ability in that fight (he did better against Calzaghe than anyone since Robin Reid).
Kessler gets very underrated because he's not only European, he's Danish, a nation not known for produced notable boxers, although they seem to produce very tough boxers ie. Kessler and Nielsen; he also has the technically sound and methodical boxer-puncher style that never gets any respect, even after it is used to humiliate more "exciting" boxers. Pavlik, on the other hand, gets extremely overrated because he's not just an American blood 'n' guts warrior, but he's a white American blood 'n' guts warrior with a well-crafted public image.

In the ring, however, Kessler would look like a champion handling a hand-picked stay-busy opponent. I wouldn't even be particularly shocked by a Calzaghe/Lacy-esque dominance. In Kessler's loss to Calzaghe alone, he showed more potential than Pavlik did in any of his fights.
Super Middleweight also acknowledge as Kessler's Kingdom when Calzaghe has retire

Historically yes, but the opponents just aren't there. When he deals with Abraham he can move up, and a Pavlik/Kessler would be top my list to see, after Kelly gets a few tune ups.

Pavlik may be lean, but he certainly isn't frail. IMO his power will carry the weight and he'll make a good fight of it with Kessler. I pick Kessler to outbox him, he has a better defence than Taylor and is tougher IMO, in a cracking fight. I'd pickm Pavlik over the rest of the SM's, apart from JC.

I feel Pavlik win or Lose should return to Middleweight and Defend. I thinkmthats what he and his camp want anyway.

Taylor may stick around and challenge Kessler if he wins, but if he loses he will have to rebuild before even thinking of touching Kessler.

Would make for an awesome series of fights though.

Pavlik should steer clear well clear of Kessler until kessler re-unifys the super middleweight division,Wich i fully expect him to do.

Pavlik should just make his name at middle...get Past JT,wich again i fully expect Pavlik to take him out a second time. And then defend at middle until better options and bigger fights arise.

I mean what you rather see...Pavlik beat JT go straght up and challenge kessler...Or Pavlik beat JT hang around at middle. Wait for the SM to sort it self out and see some MEGA fights.

No bias here folks, he is from Denmark!!

Seriously though, you are making Kessler out to be a god here. Trust me when I say, he will not walk over Pavlik like you seem to think. If you think Pavlik is over rated, you are wrong. He has left some great opposition wrecked in the ring. Pavlik has answered every test given to him, and answered every test brutally.

I think you are the one over rating Kessler to be honest. He is a great fighter, but he is not a special fighter. he is in the same league as Pavlik and if they do fight, don't be too surprised if that 1 in his record becomes a 2.
