Default De La Hoya on fighting Cotto

Watched the Main event coverage here in Aus. Seems to have been a Top Rank coverage. They got to Oscar after the fight and asked him "will you fight this guy?" He said without hesitation "NO".

GOOD. Do you have a link? I have no interest in seeing Oscar fight Miguel. And as great as Oscar is,I'd like to say,Fuck off.Let these young guns have their time to shine and let them fight each other.

Oscar is really pushing it now i feel.
I guess after all the bad presshe feels he needs to make a statement in the ring so as to demonstrate how tough he is...

would cotto turn down all that money he would make to fight oscar, i dont think so. Oscar is calling the shots. Big Money fights. Oscar is to long and fast for Cotto. As strong if not stronger. He has the right to fight a fighter he want because he gave almost everybody a chance. Thats why he want Hatton. Big Money maker to fight a little Guy. Let oscar make some easy money not that cotto is easy but Hatton would be an easy payday for him. Fair is Fair. If you could believe it I dont even like Oscar but he made alot of people rich like my man Hopkins. Winky was the last straw asking oscar to fight him. Aint he a heavyweight now. Unbelievable. Take care of your self now oscar and dont let these fighters use u any more. You are the golden Cow. peace.

I think that's maybe a bit much... Sure Cotto vs Margarito or Floyd would be great matchups, but so would DLH vs Cotto... I mean how could that possibly be a bad fight. I also wouldn't rule Oscar out by any means.. I think he would still be a huge threat to Cotto, I feel he has more left than Mosley, and imo he hits a good bit harder as well. I definelty want to see Oscar in a big fight at WW before he retires.. Why not he vs Cotto... Mexico vs Puerto Rico, two guys who would rather come forward, both have great left hooks, it would be a great action fight.

Rule Oscar out? I have a really hard time seeing him losing this fight. Oscar is bigger, faster, and he hits way harder than anyone Cotto has foughten. I am not saying Cotto doesn't have a good chance but this is one of the few guys with a better jab and left hook than him.

I can't say I want to see Oscar fight Cotto, as I'm wanting Cotto/Margarito in a big way, but I'd watch and pay for it for sure. Time for Oscar to sit back and let the young un's do their thing, as Gamo said. Let Oscar move up and fight Pavlik

You know you may be right, when I think more about it I do believe I would pick Oscar to win... But Im still not sure he can make 147 with no probs.. I also wouldn't say his being bigger and faster than anyone Cotto has fought should weight too heavily, I mean Mosley is relatively the same size currently, and just as fast... Cotto would have trouble with Oscars technique moreso than speed imo, your right on the money about the jab and left hook. Oscar would also be the hardest hitter Cotto's faced.

Oscar fater than Shane at this point? I don't think so. Oscar didn't look that fast to me v Floyd.

The Margarito Cotto fight would be far more exciting than an Oscar fight.Oscar is a $$$ fight.I don't see what Oscar has at this stage. He may have a great left hook, but he does not have any ounce of a right hand whatsoever,i mean did he even throw it once v Floyd? That was the punch landing v Cotto for Shane. Oscar's weak to the body, would not be able to handle a jab because he has limited head movement and he gasses. I don't see how he wins.

Guess me and you Gamo are the ones really wanting this Margarito/Cotto fight Will be an all time great fight, believe it! For the record, I don't see Oscar at this stage of his career beating Cotto. Hell he lost twice to Shane and though styles make fights and all that, he's frankly past it and will gass even faster when Cotto is punching that belly.

It would be a great fight but there is no reason to ake it now. Mayweather - Hatton is just a little while away, there is no reason to tie up Miguel to where he can't take that fight. And that would happen, Mayweather even during his "retirement" said that he wouldn't mind Cotto.

De La Hoya - Cotto would be a good fight but wouldn't be that relevant in the title picture really.

I didn't say Oscar is the fastest guy Cotto would fight, but he's faster than Cotto thats all. Zab is still alot faster than Oscar, and Mosley is a still a little bit faster than Oscar. He is a lot bigger than Mosley, Oscar that is. I think the thing that would give both Cotto and Oscar trouble is fighting a left handed fighter with the left hand in front.
