Default The Finalised Saddoboxing Pound for Pound Top Ten

    Hello ladies and Gents,
Over the weekend I've allowed the initial thread to stand and gather posts.

In the survey of the opinions of the Top Ten Pound for Pound list all posters opinions were viewed as equal, all posters lists were taken into account and all fighters were viewed equally.

Using a scientific method I obtained a list which uses a points system to award the fighter his place in the top ten.
This means that a fighter did not necessarily have to be in weveryone's list to make the cut nor was a fighter slipping of many lists guaranteed to come in. Should anyone wish to review my method please PM me.

We obtained 20 different pound for pound lists, so thank you to all who particiapted. As I said earlier all posters opinions were treated equally, but I must admit I was chuffed to receive the opinions of boxing fans from a vast geographical area, from different backgrounds and some greatly varying boxing factions.

Below is presented the official representation of Saddo's Pound for Pound Top Ten at the time of the 10th of MARCH 2008.

    Notes:

In the results of this survey 94.7% of the Surveyed Voted Floyd Mayweather Pound For Pound the best Boxer in the World.

In addition 73.7% Voted manny Pacquaio to be the second in line.

Although Winky Wright scored low in terms of the amount of lists in which he was mentioned, his high scores in other lists ensured that he ranked very well in this list.

Ricky Hatton scoring in many lists scored quite low given his status and scrapes in at 10, just ahead of Kristian Mijares.

Chris John's quality votes (quite high) did not compensate for his lack of support.

Juan Diaz although mentioned quite frequently, was just behind hatton in terms of mentions and below Mijares in the quality of votes received coming in a close 12th.

    Thank you to all participants....
I'd like to remind you guys, this is OUR list, as it is a scientific representation of our forums opinions and given the similarity and detail of each list represents the quality of posters that only this forum enjoys.

Thanks for your help and participation, Donny

Ha Ha thats true, but as I said what sets this apart isn't it's presentation, but it's preparation. The method I used is pretty nifty and covered both Quantitative and Qualitative angles so it was cool (I just submitted a huge report on the subject so why not apply it to boxing)

No Miguel Cotto? You sure you got that right? I'd be very surprised if Cotto did not make this board's top 10.

I can live with that list!

But essentially it's a top 11. If it's the top 10 then Hatton misses out!

May I know Donny if you have done it scientifically? What is the population of Saddoboxing? How did you compute for the representative size of the population (in case, you don't want to include inactive members)? How many voted and what is the percentage of those who voted compared to the population?

The only serious issue I have with that list Pavlik so high up.

I can live with the rest of it.

Hatton has no business being on a p4p list. All fighters listed on the p4p list that are coming of losses (Marquez and Wright) were at least competitive in there fights. Hatton was blown out in his fight. It wasn't competitive. He should be removed. And he should be removed now.

Well the one issue I came up with was that Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez camwe up with not only an equal quantity of votes, but also an equal quantity of votes. Lets say 10 people voted for Juan Manuel, ten for Cotto. Of Juan's ten 5 had him at number 4, 5 had him at number 5. Of Miguels ten, 5 had him at 4, 5 had him at no.5!!! A dead heat!!! Neitrher was viewed to be above or below the other!

It's called the technique of sampling. You may have underwent such research prior to your doctrate? When sampling a country, obviously the entire nation can't feasibly be asked to participate so we take a sample. I acquired 20 votes. Of these Mayweather topped the list in 19 surveys, as he missed out on one list completely(!) He was added an eleven to bring him up to par. The position of the fighter on the list was used as their points. If the fighter only received one vote of 5 he had 19 * 11's aded to that to bring him up to standard. This was then compiled in a points system, allowing all fighters mentioned a spot, but only the lowest scoring makingh it on the list and ranked accordingly.

I thought that myself at first. Pavlik was left off many lists, but the lists he did appear on reflected on him quite favourably and resulted in him making it quite high on the list.

As I mentioned this list, isn't my personal list, it's not Saddo's personal list, nor is it anyone's personal list. This list is a compilation of the Saddo's list and this is what all o us have voted.
