Default Abraham responds to Sturm, makes offer

    from fightnews....

    Abraham-Sturm offer pending!
Wilfried Sauerland has offered WBA middleweight champion Felix Sturm 1.5 million euros for a unification clash with IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham. Team Sauerland have filed an official offer for a showdown in Germany on July 19. However, to date Sturm representatives have yet to respond. “Sturm told everyone he wanted to fight Arthur and that he would win 24 rounds against him,” Sauerland said. “We are happy to prove him wrong. That´s why we have put a great offer on the table. This is the fight everybody in Germany wants to see.” To get in the ring with Sturm, King Arthur would even postpone his highly-anticipated US debut which was scheduled for June 21. “I want to become super champion and unify the division,” the unbeaten 28-year-old said. “I fight whoever my manager picks. I would be more than happy to give Sturm a beating.” King Arthur boasts an impressive record of 26 wins in as many fights (21 KOs), while WBA champion Sturm is 29-2-1 with 13 KOs. “We can´t wait to get this fight on,” added Sauerland managing director Chris Meyer, who had submitted the written offer to Universum on Monday. “We´re waiting to hear from Sturm.”

Logical fight, might as well. They both need to go back to fighting good comp, especially Sturm who really has no excuse.

This fight needs to happen. That way one of them at least gets eliminated for good. I think Sturm out-boxes Abraham.

If Sturm is at the top of his game he would most likely outbox abraham but then again I'm thinking a good one on sturms chin from abraham might put him down, hopefully this'll happen and will be televised in the us.

They need to fight. Sturm looked decent against Pittman but I reckon Abraham would spark him in the late rounds.

Sturm is a decent compact fighter I fancy he'll crack under Abrahams pressure.

He's always reminded me a lot of Marcus Beyer.

This would have been more interesting to me in early 2006 when both guys looked to be at the top of their game. Now to me it's just another fight I mean it's interesting in the sense that both hold titles and could possibly be the next one to get KTFO! by Pavlik.

If they fought I'd favor Abraham by TKO.

Would be a decent fight. I think Sturm has the ability to outbox AA but I think AA's power catches up to him late.

I really don't think Pavlik is unbeatable. He managed to get two very close wins over Jermain Taylor, a fighter who his last 4 out of 5 previous opponents could claim they beat him as well.

I think Abraham would be a tough fight for Kelly. He'd probably start favourite but Abraham has never been KTFO by anyone even when his jaw was hanging from his face.

    It's a tough fight imo.

Someone whos as busy as Pavlik and throws the straighter punches can get to Abraham.

I'm not saying Pavliks invincible cause I think Winky, Hopkins and Joe can beat him. But I am saying he beats Abraham and Sturm.

I think AA waits too long. You wait on Kelly Pavlik, you're getting KTFO. I'd choose JC and maybe B Hop to beat Kelly but Winky,Aa and Strum are getting their asses whipped imo. You don't stand in front of a punching machine like Pav and survive imo,not with those guys styles.

I think Wright has success against Kelly because Wright has his own attack and he's very good at neutralizing the other guys offense, I don't think Kelly would be able to put up his typical punch numbers against Winky.

Yeah I can I agree with you to an extent I just don't think Abraham would get KTFO as you put it.

As for Winky and B Hop I don't think they'd do well against Pavlik. Winky is done as a top level fighter imo, his legs arn't there any more. He'd not have enough power to earn Pavliks respect and would spend most of the fight on the defensive.

B Hop I'm not sure about. I don't think he's active enough these days to outpoint Kelly and he hasn't knocked anyone out in years. But with Pavlik relentlessly and rather crudely coming forward it is possible that Bernard's famous withering shots could repeatedly find their target and hurt Kelly.

As for Joe Calzaghe, he's simply too fast, and too good for Pavlik and beats him in a clear decision imo.

Good analysis Gamo, I think pretty much the same although I don't think Abraham gets his ass whipped. He very well may lose but his style could actually be frustrating to Pavlik.

Pavlik loves to fight coming forwards, but Abraham likes to fight off the back foot. He'll happily soak up pressure on the ropes and then close out each round with an explosive attack. He doesn't sustain his attacks long but he sure as hell hits hard. He almost had Miranda out on his feet a couple times and has a highlight reel of one punch KO's to rival any fighter in boxing right now.

Kelly is vulnurable to being hit and Abraham can really bang.

That's probably true but take into account,Jermain Taylor was stunning Wright and even though Winky was blocking shots,he was still being visibly moved. Factor in that Kelly is bigger, stronger and longer than JT AND he has an excellent jab and I think he would be too much for Winky. Kelly wouldn't be like Tito, where Tito would punch, see it blocked and become discouraged. Kelly would let his hands go ad I think he would wear out and eventually stop Wright. Too big,too strong imo.

I'm not denying that, I still think Winky could win but the fact is his legs looked a little gone last fight and while he's my favorite fighter in boxing, that's a bit discouraging. I was just pointing out he doesn't belong in Abraham and Sturm's class and I still think him to be Kelly's toughest challenge.

I think AA-Sturm pretty much needs to happen if either have any shot at Pavlik.

I think AA's style in some ways could give Kelly problems, not so much winning rounds but Kelly just getting lulled to sleep a bit by AA just holding his hands up. I could definitely see him getting caught and hurt by AA but the thing that tips it for me is Abraham's shitty stamina, Pavlik would come on late and get a late stoppage/UD.
