I think Cotto showed a lot of respect for Gomez when he had Gomez hurt, instead of jumping on him he stepped back and let him recover. I don't know if Cotto was just getting rounds under his belt or he was carrying him or what any ideas fellas ??

They way Cotto fought was inhumane. He could have finished it at end point from the end of rd one onwards. He was cruel to Gomez making him suffer like that. Someone posted a picture of Gomez defaced a few weeks ago, it was a very accurate prophecy.
he was for the first few rounds but then went all out to get rid of him in the last round....
so i just think he wanted to give Gomez and the fans a few rounds.
I think that's just the way Cotto fights now, he's a calm veteran who systematically destroys people.
When he gets someone hurt, he doesn't get over-excited and reckless, he just goes back to picking them apart piece by piece. I thought it was a very impressive and professional performance by Cotto.
I think it was a combination ofg factors.
1) Cotto wanted to show the fans some semblance of a fight.
2) Cotto wanted to test5 jis sharpness and some new tricks (Southpaw stance etc.)
3) I think Cotto was actually wiorried about hurting Gomez badly

I think he was doing what he had to do.Being calm showing him one thing then doing another.Cotto to me probably could have ended it sooner but why rush it.He knew it was coming he just had to take his time and get it done.
It was wrong that the ring doctor was the one to stop the fight. He was the only one who did his job aside from the fighters. Cottos corner and the referee should be ashamed fro letting it go on as long as it did. Gomez was so beaten up he was knocked down by a jab. Like I sid in another thread, boxing needs guys like Larry Hazzard who arent afraid to take action when no one else will. Hopefully We didnt watch years taken off Cottos career last night.....
Cotto fought well, but that was the most arrogant/cocky ive seen him and im not sure thats a good thing. I think his win over Mosley went to his head a little too much.
Psalm 144: Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle
How does Cotto's corner have anything to do with when a fight gets stopped. If anything, Cotto was merciful when he knocked Gomez down with a jab and didn't really go in for the kill - giving Gomez's corner or the ref a chance to stop it on the stool. Gomez's corner should have stopped the fight the round before. I don't even blame the ref much. It's the job of the corner to protect the fighter.
I think he did carry him, it was obvious that he could have stopped him much sooner ..... I doubt it was due to him being merciful or anything as he would have wanted a few rounds under his belt after having done all that training and he was probaly pleased that he was remorslessly breaking Gomes up.
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
I think Cotto was fighting SMART...he knows after fighting Mosley that he can't just go all out to whip someone's ass at this level...he's going to let the KO come to him and honestly it makes him a better and more dangerous fighter because not only are you going to have to use your defense and try to counter him, you're now also going to have to outbox him!
I think Cotto-Margarito is going to be what seals the deal for Cotto-Mayweather.
Good bye Floyd![]()
i think cotto went about buisness in a calm calculated manner but also i think he may have hurt his right hand................i saw him grimice when going back to his corner while holding his right glove but could be wrong
I say fair play to him
He showed Gomez the respect that every boxer deserves in that sort of situation. There's no way that you can go out there, knowing full well that they are subordinate to you in terms of class, and just destroy them. Its inhumane.
Respect goes out to Cotto on an extremely impressive, professional performance.
