Thread: Why isn't Cotto calling out mayweather...

i'm starting to like Cotto, but what pisses me off is all this shit about how mayweather is said to be ducking Cotto, yet once again after a bit win you don't see him calling HIM out...

Yes yes i know the fan boys will come out with "it's not in Cotto's style" but thats bullshit, in this sport 9 times out of 10 nothing is handed to you, you have to get out there and freaking take it. Cotto could have and SHOULD have called out floyd right then.

Now don't mistake me in a way that i'm trying to say Cotto doesn;t realy want that fight, i honestly believe he would welcome it. But if he really, REALLY wants it he needs to start sounding like it, he isn't a fucking dog, so he needs to stop talking about his handlers take care of things!

Well see if COTTO calls out Floyd then Floyd holds the cards and can get all the money he wants, and the gloves he wants, and can get the ref he wants, and the venue he wants and the HUGE ring he wants


If FLOYD calls out Cotto then Miguel has SOME sway over what the hell is going to happen in making the fight happen.

Hey Preme , Cotto in the local journal in an interview he said , that he dont going waste more his time calling PBF , becuse he commented; " For what i going waste time calling a person that really dont want fight me , i going still looking foeward for fight with who want fight me with other big names and thats all "..........that was his expresion my friend and thats why he didnt call anyone........He doing right........

cotto doesn't whore himself out there and beg for shyt plus he just does his job. Then goes back to training. he lets the business be handled by the business guys. all he does is his part. he knows people know a fight with floyd is a must. his smart enough to be calm and patient. Im sure arum and cotto know what they are doing.

But how many fighters actually do that.. Not many unless they probably already have talks in the works, and they want to start hyping it up.

It does depend on who is going after who....whether you like it or not the guy the crowd wants to see fight is COTTO and not Floyd and that paired with Floyd going after Cotto it means that Miguel Cotto can leverage all of his popularity and if he beats Margarito he'll have 2 belts at welterweight and that's even more leverage.

Miguel Cotto is at the top of his game he's beaten better competition at welterweight than Floyd has and he's KO'd a lot more guys than Floyd and he's won in more dominating fashion

What would be the point of calling out Floyd who already has a fight scheduled? And fights are not made based on who yells someone else's name, they are made by going out, fighting and earning a shot. Ask Margarito, he barked and barked but stayed in the doghouse and out of the ring and people don't demand fights based on talk they demand it after seeing a guy in the ring. Cotto, better then most anyone, let's his gloves do the talking and absolutely nobody should complain about that.

Exactly. Cotto is calling Floyd out the old fashioned way, eliminating all the competition and wilkl eventually giv him nowhwere to hide.

NewsFlash: floyd is no longer at the top of the ww division for all those who havent realized.

Cotto is the #1 guy.

We all know floyd craves attention and Cotto is not gonna be the one to give it to him. He'll just keep winning and building his own legacy. (a real legacy at that)

Everyone with even an ounce of common sense knows that floyd is not gonna take any chances so why waste time and effort trying to lure a guy into the ring that is too afraid.

You guys wanna argue that he needs to call him out or whatever but all you have to do is look at floyds history in regards to not taking fights he thinks are too tough. Margarito tried and wasted time in his career waiting for floyd to come out of his chicken suit and it never happened so Cotto is just gonna keep his own career on track and let his fight game do the talking.

Im a fan of both fighters i am a bigger fan of Mayweather's, but i pretty much agree with everyone else here. Cotto isn't wasting his time calling Mayweather out for a few reasons. 1 Mayweather isn't going to accept the fight at this time he has made that perfectly clear, and 2 Mayweather already has a fight scheduled so its a waste of time.

Like Amat already pointed out Margarito called out Mayweather constantly he even went up to Mayweather's face and demanded the fight but where did that get him ?? nowhere. So Cotto is doing the right thing eliminating every big name at Welterweight so he can force the fight to happen the good old fashioned way.

I have to say though that i am disappointed with some people on this forum, i think its way too early to say Mayweather is ducking anyone, and secondly everyone in 2006 was saying Mayweather was ducking Hatton, Oscar, and he needed to fight these guys to seal his legacy blah blah, but when he beats both of these fighters he then gets crap from fans saying that these wins don't mean nothing because ODLH is old and past his prime, even though they were saying before the fight that this was a big risk fight for Mayweather, and after Hatton beat Castillo i remember plenty of people here giving Hatton a chance against Mayweather. Then when Mayweather outclasses Hatton and KO's him impressively fans then say. Well it was at Welterweight so that win doesn't mean a whole lot, even though Hatton was top 10 P4P fighter.

I can understand people are frustrated with Mayweather but it seems no matter who he beats there always find an excuse to shit on his wins.

Floyd will eventually fight him when it makes the most financial sense for both of them. In the meantime Cotto will have to go through wars against guys like Margarito and so will be the worse for wear when they eventually do fight. It's too big a fight not to happen but both have their own reasons for hoovering up as much money as possible from other options before they do fight.

Cotto knows that mayweather wont fight him right now so it would be a waste of his time to call out mayweather. Cotto needs to just keep eliminating the other ww in the division and increase his own market value
