If Pavlik gets past the game Lockett, The Calzaghe fight should take place. I like Joe but I think Pavlik would stop Calzaghe late.

Kelly's hands are too heavy to get to Joe, I think Calzaghe is too quick and too accurate to be beaten by the young Kelly Pavlik.
Sure Hopkins knocked Joe down HOWEVER Hopkins landed a good counter but Kelly doesn't have the ability to do such a thing.
Based on what I saw tonight, I just don't see how Joe can earn Pavlik's respect in there. Pavlik would hunt him down.
Both Hopkins and Joe looked old tonight.
Pavlik by KO.
I saw a cocky Calzaghe tonight. He will get clocked big time if he put both of his hands down against Pavlik.

Calzaghe UD.
Calzaghe cant stick around too long now. Jones and Pavlik and time to call it a day.
Hahahaah
Already its started
Sorry guys, you just dont get it do you?
Without being rude here...i dont think you understand who JOE CALZAGHE IS!
He can adapt to anything.
I still cant believe people just dont learn. He beat lacy when everyone said hed get beat.
Then he beat kessler when everyone said hed get beat.
Then he beat bhop after the doubters said hed get beat.
LOOK AT THE PATTERN EMMERGING HERE!!!
Any betting man would clearly see this emmerging pattern and then say 'calzaghe will beat pavlik'.
I think joe will beat pavlik convingly because pavlik would get forced to fight joe's fight and lose.
We just saw that bhop could not control calzaghe and calzaghe adapted to win that fight...he will beat pavlik v convingly in my opinion.
BUT I'LL SAY THIS!!!
EVEN WHEN CALZAGHES BEATS ROY JONES AND BEATS PAVLIK, THERE WILL STILL BE THE DOUBTERS AND HATERS...SORRY GUYS BUT YOU NEVER LEARN DO YOU...YOU REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT JOE CALZAGHE IS ABOUT!!!
Those are the two fights I wasnt too then retire undefeated .
Jones is too old and it may be a similar fight to last night but not as dirty . Joe outpoints Jones.
The Pac fight will be interesting but Pav is pretty crude and I think he'll be easy to outbox. Joe would be too quick for him , mark him up then take him out . Taylor let Pav off teh hook when he had him down but Joe doesnt gas out like Jermain so I think Joe stops Pav in 10 rounds.
The mind games Joe plays IN the ring are just as effective as the mind games Bernard plays OUT of the ring.
You saw what happened when Pavlik tried to showboat infront of the lighter hitting Jermain Taylor.....I think Joe could do that and finish him off as well.
There is nothing like a southpaw with quick hands to ruin your day
They both looked old and slow. I thought Calzaghe was supposed to have lightning hands. I saw that slow motion of a flurry that he threw and none of them landed. I thought he looked like a kitten pawing at a toy. Hopkins hurt Joe a few times even though Joe has too much pride and does not admit it. I wonder what a guy with a iron chin. World class boxing skills and one the hardest hitting guys pound for pound would do to him. I just do not see
Calzaghe hurting Pavlik at all. I do however see Pavlik hurting Calzaghe. The best man Joe has faced is a middle aged man. Come on. Now he wants Jones Jr. Soon he will be cruising the retirement homes looking for former champs. I hope Kelly Pavlik destroys Lockett in a Cotto Gomez type fashion . And hopefully that would light a fire under Joe's and Enzo's ass.
Good point, his combinations aren't as fast and venomous as they used to be. When he was at his physical peak, it was this aspect that gave him such and advantage when in the trenches. He couldn't match Kessler when trading, and a 43 year old Hopkins was up to the job last night as well. He CAN beat Pavlik, but only by boxing from the outside going in and out like he did in the middle rounds against Kessler.
Pavliks jab and his range would play a factor. Pavlik would do the oppisite of Hopkins. He will move forward into punches(we all saw that in the Miranda fight) and he will use his range in the middle of the ring. Kelly Pavlik will be by far the best fighter I believe Calzaghe will face.Hopkins and Jones of the 90's would have been a different story. They both are aged and slower. I would say that the Roy Jones I saw in the 1990's was the best boxer I have ever scene. It would be a huge test for both of them and a great fight for the fans.
Unbelievable. There are many Calzaghe haters in here. Give the man his props you frigging ingrates.
Just because people pick a guy to beat Calzaghe doesn't make them haters bro', so get off your high horse and relax.
Hopkins doesn't throw as many punches as Pavlik does, and though a better counter puncher and strategist than Pavlik, doesn't bring the fight in your face all night.
Pavlik is slower and more cumbersome, but makes up for it in sheer volume and is constantly attacking. Joe was getting rocked whenever Hopkins did throw that straight right last night; and I think with the sheer volume rate of Pavlik, will eat many more than Hopkins fed him. Joe doesn't have much power and certainly won't knock Pavlik out, though the opposite could be said for Pavlik.
Joe likes taking people to the ropes to beat on them, but news flash, Pavlik will gladly sit around by the ropes to trade with Joe. Though, Taylor showed that if you box Pavlik from the middle of the ring, you could definately make Pavlik look "simple" at times. If Joe does that he could probably win a fairly easy points UD; though I think Joe will do his usual hunting to the ropes and Pavlik will catch up to him at some point. Alot of it depends on Calzaghe's approach.
Congrats to Calzaghe though for his win; I picked Hop to win but am glad I was wrong.
Before last night I'd pick Joe by decision, if he turns up as overconfident and sluggish as last nigh he gets KTFO. And I'm as big a fan of Joe as there is on this board.
