I hope it comes on the BBC soon after like his last fight.
I watched the replay on Versus last night. I must admit and I am not trying to ride Hatton's ass on this but he did not look like the Ricky of old in any way. He was aggressive and he went after Lazcano like the Ricky of old but he just seemed to be missing something, almost as if he was trying too hard.
I am looking forward to the Malignaggi fight though, I am sure we will see a better version of Hatton and a better version of Malignaggi as well I hope.
Ok, I had to get this off my chest after watching the replay: Hatton fans who talked endless shit about cortez where are you to talk about how horrible this last ref was? I mean really that ref was having conversation with ricky getting instructions on how to ref the fight. Then after he stops Juan for no reason, taking about 10 seconds to get him in the corner over some bullshit claim he was pushing his head down. He walks over to ricky to start the action, and Ricky lifts his foot to make him get the retie, the ref didn't notice....theres another minute off. Total bullshit.
If your laces were untied would you want them tied up? Obviously he doesn't want to trip and break his neck. The refs main priority is the saftey of the two boxers..
Yeah I know they are supposed to do that when there is a lull in the action not when a guy is holding on for life. Another thing, was the stoppage to fix Paulie's hair, fuck him he should have to fight with that shit in his face.... Can we get some boxing footwear that has some lace guards or something because it annoys the shit out of me when laces come undone more than once in a fight...Paulie's last fight he had a few wardrobe malfunctions.
It's just like when a guy loses a mouthpiece they don't stop the opponent in the middle of pressing the attack.
Just watched Paulie getting the chop again, cracks me up.. I do believe him about his hand though, He hasn't hardly used it since the 6th..
His hands are like fine china, because I didn't see any big shots from him with the right that I could say, yep thats where he broke it. I think he broke it on a missed bodyshot around the 4th-6th round I forgot which one. He throws a body punch that hits Lovemore around the hipbone, he kind of winced and stepped back a bit. I think it was then. He also has already been to the doctor and he confirmed it was fractured and they already went into surgury I think....and he still wants the Hatton fight in late 08'. Maybe he needs to let the hand fully heal or something, because its a reoccuring thing with him.
anyone notice how bias the commentators where for Hatton the didnt seem to notice Hatton getting hit with solid shots, and in the 10th when Hatton WAS hurt they failed to notice it and instead going on about how Lazcano was ready to go he could hardly stand up.
Ive gotta say this particular ref was on lazcano way too much during the fight and was pulling him up over every tiny infringement.
Fosters biggest fear was lazcano doing something that could of forced a cut from hatton, especially early on.
Imagine had that of happened - rickys home coming having to be stopped because of a nasty gash!!!
As for the whole shoe thing though - ricky had every right to ask for his shoe (which i might add was completely unlaced) to be laced back up. He wasnt in any danger and if anything was the aggressor!!
I agree that was some bad refereeing ( is that really a word?) Hatton was in trouble and the ref should have let the moment pass before stopping the bout for the shoe lace tie. He could have done his best to keep an eye on if Hatton tripped or was knocked down if he did go down.
I do not understand why some of these refs are not held more accountable for their actions in situations like this. I understand they are just human like the rest of us and mistakes happen but there are mistakes an there is incompetence.
