Thread: Duddy back on June 28th

He is slated to fight a guy named Charles Howe. That may change though because guys like to pull out about 2-3 weeks before the fight lately. I would have liked to see a more live opponent but this may be a confidence builder type of fight after his last sub-par outing. This looks like a step sideways or even backwards IMO. They are smart to take this type of fight, let the new combo gel a bit. Hoping to see more boxing less brawling this time out.

He may never be a champion, but he has a champions heart and an exciting style. That is all he needs to be successful. I thought he showed incredible heart and courage in his last fight. Would I call him championship material? Hell No!

He has an exciting style, in the same sense that toughman contests are exciting. Hell I'd probably have an exciting style, because I'd have no clue how to defend myself against a good boxer either. He obviously has heart, otherwise he would've never stuck with boxing, being that he isn't very good. Garbage is perhaps a harsh word but relatively speaking, he is not about to beat good opponents. To be honest I think he's only remotely known and popular because he is Irish.

Shows what you guys know, Duddy is already World Champion. He holds the prestigous IBA belt and the one belt that truely defines the champion of the division the WBC Contental Americas Champion. See how stoopit you guys look now.

Actually reminds me a lot of barry mcguigan.

Very fool-hardy approach that makes for a very exciting fighter. Cant help but wonder though what a pavlk/forrest or taylor will do to him unless he can shore that defence up.

Still though wish the lad nothing but the best. Dont think theres a single fan out there who wouldnt pay to see a john duddy fight!!!!

Duddy's a poor boxer, always has been. He grafted out a lot of amateur wins and internationals through hard work and diligence.
But he's not a natural boxer.
I respect him for what he's achieved, but he's pretty much a Middleweight Michael Katsidis or Arturo Gatti.
But we all saw Gatti's career and Casamayor stomped Katsidis.

Duddy's a fan hero.
But the difference between hero's and champions?

Hero's go down in glorious failure, earning the love of the fans for their effortsd.
Champions rise to the top and overcome all.

So he's not garbage, but he's not champion material.
