Andy Lee will return to the ring on July 19th vs. Gibbs.
Looks like the fight will take place in Ireland.
Thoughts?

My thoughts on Willie Gibbs have been the same for awhile, there is something fundamentally wrong with how he takes a punch, his legs just go haywire. I have heard stories that he got in a bunch of gym wars in Philly and that even though he's young he's taken a lot of punishment. This doesn't surprise me cause even though he's young his legs looks shot to me. Look at the way he took punches versus Edouard, Miranda, there's just something wrong with him.
Lee early KO/TKO.
Basically there's a reason why Lee's people want Gibbs for a comeback fight.
Same reason Miranda's people wanted Gibbs for his HBO debut.
Lee has kind of the same issue, his legs go rubbery when he takes shots. I don't think Gibbs will win though because he hits weaker than Vera for sure.
Ive seen Gibbs talking aloooot on this one as Lee's big Mistake for a comeback fight,Underestimating him etc.I think in an odd way Lee's Asterisk Loss to Vera can be a hidden positive.I agree with Oumafan about Gibbs reactions to some punches, just seems to get rigid. One thing though,If a wide eratic Vera can hook on Lee....Gibb's can find him much more. This is in Lee's hometown (?),He's undoubtedly made some adjustments and I think he will bounce back to TKO Gibbs, should be good.
Good opponent for Lee to return against. Gibbs will make Lee work but should not be in any danger at all. Gibbs will make Lee look good I would guess.
I am not sold on Lee one bit. He is a poor mans John Duddy and that is not saying much. Duddy at least can brawl with some of the lesser fighters or past best and make it exciting.
Lee can hit hard and that is about the extent of it.
Gibbs should get starched early

Put em up;
As regards the "poor mans John Duddy" comment, I'm not being smart, but Lee is twice the fighter Duddy is.
Duddy was not an exceptional am. Lee made the Olympics and was beaten by questionable decision in his second bout.
Lee has a wealth of expiereince and skill. Lee will be very good.

I know what your saying HMD and respect that. I also know Lee's amateur background.
Maybe I should have explained a bit better my post my fault.
Whe I called him a poor man's John Duddy I meant as far as staying power and durability. He is not a guy that we will see get the edge in too many toe to toe situations with an opponent that has a solid chin.
In short I guess the best way to describe what I am saying is Lee is not that durable.
As regards physicality, Lee cannot be classed anywhere near the likes of Duddy or Andrade. Although his chin is far from suspect (he never went down v Vera!!!) his frame is so long and slim he's simply not built to endure punishment.
Thats whty I feel now is the time to refine his defence and outside boxing.
Nice job covering the fight....
Not so nice the job I gotta do first![]()

Looks like loss number 2 for Lee
fair play to Andy for getting straight back in with a puncher. Alot of fighters who have been stopped for the first time wouldn't be so brave. Be intresting to see how he gets on, still think he's a better prospect than Duddy, hopefully we've still to see alot more from him
