I actually thoughht you weren't an advocate of the pads Scrap.

I think the pads should be used for technique and therefore there's not a great deal of force involved so any person with the correct knowledge could use them, regardless of physical state.

IMO there is far too much emphasis on speed and power when doing the pads.
    Its all a show really.

I agree. THey're especially useful IMO for a trainer to look at a beginners technique and correct them while doing the excercise.

My trainer is 76 and still does the pads. He gets some problems with swelling on the wrists mind.

If your keeping a decent pace, and you think your helping your fighters, why not?
It probably wouldnt work here, but I do pads alot more aerobically then most gyms. But since I work in alot of martial arts in to training,I do ALOT of things differently.
But if your keeping pace well, why not work the pads with your boys. Your 65 your not dead for gods sake.

You should do what your body TELLS you to do. If that means giving up working with the HWs, then give up working with the HWs.

The old guys that used to give me mitts would say the same thing... it's not the mitts per se, it's working them with the heavies that jars the back and shoulders, etc.

I was told once that the guy who was working with me told the other guy that he thought I broke his shoulder with a left hook. Am I'm not even a true HW. i just weigh in as one.
