I know some of you don't like the show, but I'm pretty happy about this.
They are mentioning some good names.

Shit man that would be great if they got Enzo Calzaghe, what a character!!!
If they stick with that line up i cant see anyone touching BJ Flores tbh.
He is the reason Cunningham is fighting another bum in Europe.
Good Info....Not to soil on the new carpet But I wish this 'show' would go away.....How about they just double up there efforts in full card promotions and put these guys on the air in solid 10 rounders minus the mellow dramatic sound effects and plastic feel....guess that answers it self
Bell quits vs.Adamek and he's the most prominate one ?
....Its an off day but I went in to check on things this AM,Funny as hell,The big chief comes up to me and asks with a smirk..."Whats a Saddo"?No S!!!! I about fell out rolling.Seems as though someone forgot to clear the History
.He was actually cool about it but believes in "Leading by example" with the staff...my bad.
I don't have vs. dammit.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I had no interest in this until I saw the roster
Matt Goddfrey, Jonathon Banks and Aaron Williams. The 3 best cruiserweight prospects right there. Wow.
Not to mention Oneil Bell, Darnell Wilson, Emmanuel Nwodo (something tells me he doesn't want to draw Wilson again) and not to mention top ranked BJ Flores. Tokarev also.
Easily the most talented cast the Contender has ever had and it's not hard to figure out why. Cruiserweight gets less TV dates then the little guys.
Aaron Williams to be Contender ChampionNow they just have to cut down on the ridiculous music, train for real not in gimmick truck pulls or stone rolling competitions and I can't believe I'm saying this but SHOW THE FIGHTS.
I'm exactly like you! I know Sergio has done well but the rest of the bunch have lagerly turned out to be an embarrassment.
Manfredo, Gomez, Brinkley, Gomez, Bika, Codrington, they are just fish food for hungry sharks.
Plus playing an orchestral score whilst these plodders heave themselves around the ring makes the action taking place inside the ropes just look ridiculous.
It's like watching some fat minger in a club trying to seduce you by dancing to Britney's 'I'm a slave 4 you'.
Inside you feel nothing but contempt and disgust for the ugly fat mess but you're drunk so you fuck her anyway, I feel exactly the same with the Contender, it's shit, the fighters suck and it bores me, but I'll still watch because it's boxing
But ideally I wish Ray Leonard would take this show and shove it up his ass.

Now that scares the hell out of me....Honestly though,my main point is more directed at the Networks and how they sort of "cheapen" some of the fighters Imo.Look,I have no quams with some of the also ran fighters getting some career bump out of this,Cannot really blame them. But to believe this really represents the totality of the sport/fighters is faulty thinking Imo..It is waaay over edited and plays to the simplicity of the same prime time part time viewers that still believe Tyson can fight
.
Heres an Insane Idea......why not take the very same fighters mentioned in the possible Cruiser weight season and ohhh I dont know....say, enter them in an actual network championship tournament in actual 10-12 round main events with some dignity as opposed to dumbed down, abbreviated highlight packaged fights??Networks used to do this allll the time.
I am all for bringing new fans into the game, letting some of the fighters "get some" in other wise under the radar careers, but Im all about the Networks putting there capital into full length Boxing cards and leaving the gimmicks for the other thousands of over dolled up "reality" shows....All that said though.....Its ultimatly about the Boxing so......see ya ringside
.

Even with one of my favorite fighters as part of the cast and a local guy in Flores, I won't care if they don't show the fights. They should take the Ultimate Fighter it was a MUCH better show. Contender had better talent but to be honest the show has always been bad TV to me.

The Ultimate Fighter is much better then the Contender. For one they train like a normal fighter would. They don't compete in sledgehammer contests to win a brand new Toyota Tundra. That stuff is garbage.
And secondly, they show the fight! No highlight videos, no music, no annoying crowd, no family members, no commentary, just the fight. That's how it should be done.
Clearly you haven't seen it past the first season... They turned it from a reality show feel to real boxing... The fighters train normally and compete just like the Ultimate fighter...
They also showed the whole fights after the show was aired so you could see it in it's entirety...
They can show a whole Ultimate fighter fight cuz it lasts at the most a few rounds...

I agree with Amat, their show is much more entertaining.
For a start even though most of the fighters are dicks they at least have personalities, even if they do mostly suck. The actual shows have some drama, people fall out, they trash things, they get drunk and act like clowns, it's more fun to watch.
The coaches always have a big rivalry and clash and we get to see some emotion.
The Contender is just so sanitised and soulless. The coaches do nothing apart from yell in between rounds 'I need this round'!, Sugar Ray never even raises a smile let alone tells someone to go fuck themselves or argues with anybody.
The boxers are all the dullest people on the planet, nearly always married so we see them moping to the camera prefight about how they are fighting for their families, of if they are single their mother.
There is at least some comedy value when the wives get rolled out and we can laugh at the trolls these boxers have somehow ended up with but the show is just dull dull dull.
I couldn't care less who wins, and you know that barring a miracle none of them are going to do fuck all apart from get knocked out when they start fighting for real again.
In fact the last two seasons havn't even produced a single star, other than Forbes.
What happened to Grady Brewer, Gary Balleto, Norberto Bravo and whoever else was on that crummy second series? What about series 3? Has anybody from that show even had a pro fight since
The first show was great, and had some decent talent, it's got worse and worse and needs to be put to sleep.
It's gone from primetime tv, to espn and now to versus.
It wouldn't suprise me if next year they are on Youtube with Don Omega producing and Kid Thunder, Charlie and B Sterge the contenders.
Actually I'd rather watch that![]()
