Typical Floyd
Graham just got older and can't train Ricky 100%. They have a successful run until pbf which is not bad if you analyze it. Since Floyd Sr. is taking over, i will reserve my judgement until NOV. I have to wait and see if he really does inject and improved Ricky's arsenal or boxing ability.
I do agree with him as far as the reference to the (pillow) body bag, Floyds the master of defense/footwork so why waste time hitting a static bag for 15 rounds, thought that at the time and it still baffles me![]()
I must admit Graham would be a great conditioning coach. Considering the shape Ricky gets into after making himself balloon between fights. But Floyd is a great boxing coach. I think they could have worked very well together with Hatton in theory but in reality personalities would clash.
None of it matters because Ricky is done Floyd Sr. will get NOTHING more out of him
I cant seeing this teaming lasting if Floyd keeps saying shit like that. That is not Hattons way and im sure he will be displeased with those remarks.
As for Hatton being done..... i reserve judgement until after Paulie. One thing is for sure, Hatton has been at times dire since Tszyu. He needs to start working off his jab and get his head movement back, o and stop hugging!
Hatton have 2 more fights then retire so i don't think its gonna be a long term thing
Never really understood the bodybag either to be honest. It was talked about as if it was a must see event, Ricky biffing a heavybag with eyes?
Maybe it started as a serious workout but wound up being a bit of a partypiece/chore that signified the end of training camp?
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

The body bag thing I think was to measure how his fitness was coming along, a barometer from previous fights. 15 hard rounds and he knew where he stood fitness wise.
It's also hard to judge the methods as we don't get to see everything obviously not to give the game away.
Everyone talks about the jab and head movement he used to have pre-Tzyu, but Graham was his trainer then so he can't be solely to blame for the decrease in skills.
what possibly happened was that Hatton became obsessed with the conditioning part of training, thinking he could just out muscle fighters, which worked at LWW.
It seems contradictory but IMO concentrating on conditioning is a lazy attitude to training. It is so much easier to just do endless rounds with your head 'switched off' than to prepare the technique meticulously.
I'm curious to see if F Sr can get Hatton to do this, for the sake of results and for the sake of fans that have to watch the hugfests. Unfortunately it just may be too late, and Hatton will revert back to what he knows if he's put under prressure.
As a 17 year old most good judges rated Ricky a certainty to win a World Title. The quality was there for certain![]()

I actually agree with Floyd there.

When does Floyd Sr not blast other trainers?
He has always thought that he is the only one that knows anything, so this should not be a surprise to anyone.
But I do admit, the guy has a certain flair when he talks, and it can crack me up at times.
