Will a knockout do it?
Will a unaminous decision do it?
Will a split decision do it?
As many folk on this site think RJJ is gonna win, then if Calzaghe wins U have to give him respect. correct?

he has to do what he did to kessler for the mainstream to respect him..
take what RJJ dishes out to him, counter punch, and make him give up basically..
I'd say he needs a pretty solid UD for any hater to have an ounce of respect..
Well i don't like him as a person so i would never respect him on that point i don't like his boxing style so no respect their either and as for his career its all a bit to little to late.
The title could have been a bit less abrasive IMO. I think most real boxing fans respect Joe.
Simaltaneous 2 division recognized Ring Champ
Undefeated
Over 10 year champion
Not to mention top 5 PFP fighter.
Id say there is a lot to be respected there![]()
I wont respect him ever , beating a 39 year old Jones who Tarver and Johnson have KOED , and a 43 year old hopkins dont make a career.
If i was in a burning building with no escape than to be helped by calzaghe then i would rather burn. I HATE HIM MORE THAN MOST CAN HATE ANYTHING
It is a bit of a shame... He won my respect years ago but have never liked his style. He wins fights. I have seen many of his early fights after the fact and saw that he was a crisp puncher with pop but was forced to change his style after the repeated injurys...
That being said...
Years from now Joe will be remembered as a great champion and kingpin. He destroyed Lacy and Beat Bhop that CLEARLY... CLEARLY has more left in the tank then we thought when we saw him against Tarver, Wright and Calzaghe.
IMHO the Pavlik fight showed just how good Joe is and added alot of stock to that fight.
I don't really see a plethora of Calzaghe haters anymore. It's undeniable to brush off his accomplishments.
Joe Calzaghe is as great a champ in modern time as you can get...

For people that already dislike calzaghe this upcoming fight won't change anything. Maybe a couple of years back..but not now. I don't mind the guy either way but from what i see it's joe's career as a whole they dislike not something one particular fight will change. I doubt he cares half as much as his fans do, joe seems satisfied with what he's done during his time in the sport.

Respect, respect, wah no respect.
I don't tink Calzaghe doesn't get respect by more then like 5 people here.
I respect what Calzaghe has done, I was in the camp that said he needed to fight Kessler, well he did that he adjusted like a champion and won a clear decision. I don't like Calzaghe's style, it is not entertaining to me, but I respect what he has done. I don't think any result in the Jones fight will make me gain or lose respect for him.
Credit where credit is due, Calzaghe earned his ring rankings.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I'm not a Calzaghe hater, but I'm certainly a bit of critic when it comes to him being over protected and being a total slapper for the the last 4 years or so. I give him plenty of respect for the Kessler fight, and beating Hopkins, even if just barely. 43 or not, Hopkins is still one of the best in the world. He's the Nolan Ryan of boxing.
How much credit he gets in MY book depends somewhat depends on how Jones looks and how he goes into the fight mentally. Jones has looked progressively better since Tarver 3, and he's improved some technical flaws that he used to mask with almost godlike reflexes. He still has his handspeed and some tools that could give Joe problems. If Jones looks good, and Calzaghe still beats him clearly, it'll give him credit. I think Jones actually has a chance in this fight, because I don't think he will go in afraid of getting hit and that will allow him to open up.
