Default ODLH vs JC Chavez jr.?...Iiiiiiiiiii dunno

I was reading a blog from Dan Rafael at ESPN.com and it talks quite nice about ODLH. It's a bit refreshing to read a boxing expert finally saying something positive about ODLH after everybody throws all kinds of crap at him. But he mentions a possibility of ODLH facing JC Chavez Jr. before really calling it quits.
    http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3762483&name=rafael_dan
If his fight against Pac AT LEAST finished with a questionable desicion then maybe I could imagine seeing him fight one more time but he showed that he just didn’t have it anymore. Even if he fought a total journeyman I can see him going through the same path Tyson went through on his las 2 or 3 fights.
Before, people thought Oscar would totally walk over JC Chavez Jr., how about now? After seeing how he didn't throw punches in his last fight, no lateral movements, no cutting the corners, no speed, no left hook, NO NOTHING then I am not so sure about him facing Chavez Jr. or ANYBODY out there.
Please Oscar, no more fights. Your admirable accomplishments are already HARD TO BEAT. I can't see any boxer out there coming close to accomplishing all you did. Let's leave it like that.

If he fights again it'll be at 154+lbs and he'll say at 147 he was too weak, too drained. A fight with Chavez Jr would thrust him into the spotlight and Golden Boy would either become his promoter or promote his next few fights. I'd much rather see Chavez Jr fight Ronnie Hearns.

    Killface,
I always find it interesting to see Jrs facing each other with their fathers at the corner .

Chavez Jr. beating ODLH would not only be a career builder, regardles of ODLH being passed his prime, but also some sort of redemption for Chavez Sr. And if ODLH beat Chavez Jr., oh man, wouldn't that be painful for not only his father but also lots of Mexican fans hahaha! ODLH beating father and son, just doesn't sound right hahaha!

Aside from going out on a win, what does ODH have to gain from this fight? His legacy is secure (despite what some people might think) - he is, or should be, well respected for always wanting to fight the best. He's a multi-division champ, etc., etc. Losing to Chavez Jr. would only tarnish the end of his great career.

Aside from his name, Chavez Jr. brings nothing to the table.

    ODH should retire.

He has more money to gain. It would still do good numbers and could easily be promoted as Chavez jr trying to avenge his fathers loss. I think it is a dumb fight for legacy, but makes sense financially.

Obviously he would earn some money, but I'm sure ODH has plenty of money. Regardless of his part-time boxing career, he's making a fortune with his promotional company.

I think he should make sure he is shot, and fight JCC Jr. He should let himself get turned into burger meat at the hands of Jr. The reason being he has been accused of taking advantage of an aging legend when he beat Sr. He should do to Jr. what Sr. did for Oscar, and that is be his catapult to stardom. He had a chance against Manny to prove all his naysayers wrong, and prove he was a warrior, but instead he quit on his stool without going to the canvass in the fight. He can win over all the Mexican boxing fans who don't like him for what he did to JCC, and because they don't think he is a Mexican warrior. I think he could change some of their minds with a big loss to JCC where he actually fights through a little blood.

    Ky7le,
The story could help a bit to sell the fight. I mean, ODLH beating an old Chavez Sr. and then have a young Chavez Jr. face an old ODLH, eh? Heheheh!

    CHF,
That's right. I don't see how fighting Chavez Jr would do him any good.

    Kingfrnk,
He did look shot, worned out, drained, past his prime, etc. Not sure how he would look against Chavez Jr. Chavez Sr. has mentioned in past interviews that he would like to have ODLH face Chavez Jr.

    Kkisser,
Always good to leave with a victory and maybe ODLH was expecting that vs Pac. Went pretty bad.

    Two words . . . .Who cares?

I wouldn't want to see this at all. I don't really know what either would gain from this. . .ok, nineteen words.

Anybody beating an old worned out big name passed his prime is a great way to build their resumes and look like the greatest thing out there so it would be quite good for Chavez Jr.

I would love to see Jnr beat ODH, as long as it is on free. A farewell fight for all the poor people who cannot view the high prices of PPV.

I dont think Oscar can look any worse than he did against Pac. If he fights again it better be at 154 against a slower fighter. His reflexes cant handle a speedy fighter who throws a lot of punches. Im not so sure he can handle any fighter that throws a lot of punches anymore. Floyd, Hopkins, Forbes, all fought a patient fight. Oscar can only play a slow game of chess at this point in his career. I hope he retires, but Id understand if he wants to go out better than he did.

I hope not......Can't imagine what was going through his mind against Pac....heartbreaking to watch my hero get done over like that. I hope he stops for his health the last thing I want to see is The Golden Boy with Brain damage.

Probably over reacting...But why take the risk and find out you really are shot by fighting again and Risking that type of injury.
