Can anyone identify what this is? The slot above my hard drive that is.
I've always wondered what it's for and I'm wondering what I can use it for.

The slot to the left is a PCMCIA slot, you can get all sorts of PCMCIA cards, most common being a wireless card. The slot on top of the earphone jack looks like an SD card reader, not sure which slot you mean.
The square device connection to the left of the earphone jack is for an external flux capacitor.
Hope this helps.
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

memphis is dead right, my wife uses the PCMCIA with an adapter for her flash memory from her camera.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Right, the "slot" is for a network card.. If that's what you're referring to..
you could get a network card, insert it into the slot, and have the capablity to connect to wireless networks..
Don't listen to memphis about the flux capacitor slot.. Whatever you plug into that slot explodes.. careful.
Flux Capacitor! haha funny shit
Thanks for the replies chaps!
My lappies already wireless so what other PCMCIA things can you get?
And Memphis, really, what is that thing next to the headphone socket?
Ok I googled and all I can find are internet cards, sound cards, USB cards and TV tuner cards.
No other uses for PCMCIA cards?
