If Hatton beats Pac I think this would be a smashing fight.
What do you think? Hatton and Cotto in the same ring......maybe at catchweight?
I wanted it 3 years ago and I still wanna see it.

I love Hatton and would want him to win but I don't see him beating Cotto - just too strong for Ricky - he can't handle any of the truly top Welters. Make Cotto drop to 140 and it might be a competitive fight. At a catchweight Cotto still has too much.
I also wanted this 3 years ago.
If it's at 140 I would love to see Hatton fight Cotto, but at 147 I don't want Hatton to fight Cotto. I don't really see this fight happening though. Hatton said he won't go back up to 147 and Cotto said he won't go back to 140 so something has to give. At a catchweight 143 it would be interesting, but Cotto might be a little too strong for Hatton.
Cotto's only loss was against a pressure fighter so maybe that style is his weakness. I'd pick Miguel but Hatton would have a decent chance if he can take Cotto's shots fairly well. If Ricky was as inspired as the KT fight then he'd give it a good shot.
It would be a cracking matchup and I wouldn't rule Hatton out at all. 147 obviously favours Cotto, but I think Hatton has a style that could cause Cotto fits. Cotto would be forced to work hard for 3 minutes a round and would have Hatton mauling at him in close. Cotto has a lot of great skills but I think his weakness is stamina and punch output, he can be lazy and gets tired. He can be outworked. Of course, Cotto might stop Hatton, but I think Hatton has a decent shot of stopping Cotto too.
I like the clash of styles a lot.
Cotto would put a terrible beating on Hatton, it might be competitive early on, but I have no doubt that Cotto would stop Hatton in the mid/late rounds.
I have no reason to believe that Hatton has the power or the style to trouble Cotto (unless the fight is below 147, then the weight-drain will badly effect Cotto's punch resistance).
Urango was hurting Hatton to the body, imagine what Cotto would do to him.
Cotto has improved a lot against Mosley.Cotto TKOs Hatton before round 10.![]()

I think Hatton will win against Pacman but I don't think he'd beat Cotto .
Cotto at 140 was not the fighter he is at 147 , at 140 Cotto was easily shaken by solid punchers and Hatton would definately have won handsomely in my opinion but at 147 Cotto is refreshed and stronger .
Cotto is a good, strong, well rounded Welterweight who in my eyes is still unbeaten .
Cotto versus Hatton will never happen at 140 .
At a catchweight of 143, it would be fairly even as Cotto doesn't make 147 with ease. Also as this would be assuming Hatton beat Pac, he would be the man who could call the shots. I'd still favour Cotto to win just, but at catchweight it would be more even.
No doubt though Hatton would go after a rematch with Mayweather, where he would be outboxed and out thought for another defeat. At least he might make it to the end this time![]()
To be fair to Hatton he was ill on fight night against Urango. He had a chest infection the week of the fight. There was an interview a few days before the fight and he looked and sounded like shit. IMO he shouldn't have fought, plus Urango is a decent puncher.
At 147 there would be no point but at a catch weight i think it's 50-50. At 140 i think the weight drain and Hatton's work-rate would be far too big a hurdle for Cotto to overcome.

Cotto @ 140 was an accident waiting to happen and it's a shame Ricky didn't get the chance to make it come true, Miguel @ 147 is a different beast and I would like to wait and see if Rick's new training and more work with Mayweather senior come the Manny fight, shows us new improvements which would suggest he may be able to tackle Cotto at the higher weight class.
