    Default Otley Says........

Hatton wont retire and people would still like to see fight's with Junior Witters, Amir Khan and De La Hoya (if he comes out of retirement).

Yes....Hatton got exposed but is still good enough to regain a title.

Hatton can still be a force but not with the elite, he can't handle the likes of Pretty Boy and Pacman but i do believe Hatton will carry on and still do the business against everyone accept the elite.

Go back with your old trainer and get back to basics....there is plenty of fighting against the above to keep the Brits happy for a little while yet

    adios

If he fights on i'll back anyone to KO him.

He'll never recover mentally from that loss. Ever.

A knockout like that changes everything. It is worrying...the Floyd ringpost KO, Lazcano rocking him twice, and now this to top it all off. It's a worrying trend. He seems to be taking the punches harder and harder, it's all well and good getting stopped and getting up again. But to be laid there for several minutes is too much.

He has no reason to fight and what's the worth of a belt when he's held belts already. He aimed for the stars and fell short, no shame in it at all. I don't think he will care too much about paper belts now.

I wouldn't begrudge him a farewell fight, but would rather he retired.

He shouldn't retire....sure it was a BIG KO but hell he has only lost to 2 #1 P4P fighters, is that so bad

I am sure Hatton will want to at least have a fight in England and win and then hang up the gloves.

Retiring is a possibility. Another would be: Take 6 months off BUT... in the meantime, find a good trainer that cares about you and practice some special drills for 2-3 extra months with him (not including the real training for a fight) to have time to absorb a couple of new defense wizardry tricks, one cannot change his style in one fight but can definitely adjust if he's conditioned to do so by practicing a lot before a fight and before the 6-12 weeks camp before the official "fight".

have thought about this some more overnight - his career deserves a farewell fight over here for sure so am all for that now.

As for an opponent thats a tough one - Khan, Witter ? I am just not sure

As I've said I don't want Khan to beat him and Ricky will find it tough mentally.

I know what you're saying Otley about him being able to live with most but the elite - but that's the thing, Hatton wants to be in the elite and he won't like fighting in a lower echelon (check out the big words from TKO) to them as he knows he has been unable to join them.

    Home farewell it should be

I think he could get stopped by all three of those guys mentioned, he had a bit of a growing chin problem as it was before Saturday night, Lazcano was a red flag is there ever was one and Malignaggi was really the perfect opponent.

I can't imagine a worse way for Ricky to end his career than getting stopped by Junior Witter. Of course that fight would never happen I'm sure. If anybody I guess Khan would be the best option.

if he's able to overcome the KO mentally than i think he can go on to win another title, but honestly i doubt he will, and after Saturday i have zero interest in a Cotto Vs Hatton fight anymore

Donaire-Darchinyan KO was very similar to Pacquiao-Hatton KO.

And look where Vic is now. Heck, Vic is even 3 years older than Ricky.

Nah. Ricky should hang 'em up.

That's a decent idea...it could be a very entertaining fight as well.

Ricky should fight at least one more time, no need for him to go out like that. Perhaps Ricky could fight Witter or even Lenny Daws, just have a fight in the UK, give the fans one last hurrah and then hang 'em up and live in the pub.

...I still wish we would have seen Ricky Hatton fight the following: Diego Corrales (R.I.P), Acelino Frietas, Arturo Gatti, Mickey Ward, and Miguel Cotto

I think Hatton's family should demand that he retire. He needs an intervention if he decides to fight again.

Look, we all know Hatton is as tough as old boots. Still, after the Mayweather KO and now this one, it is just too dangerous for him to fight on.

Sure he could fight a "homecoming" fight. Still, it better be against a fighter with zero power. The last thing Hatton wants is to get KO'd again and who knows what punch could do it after the trauma he has endured as of late.

Don't be the UK Gatti with your lip falling off your face as the commisoner runs into the ring to stop the fight.

I really wish that Hatton has one more farewell fight in the UK against somebody I don't care who, knocks them out and he retires. I don't want my last memory of my idle, the Boxer that I have followed since 2003 and have seen every fight live since I have been following him here in America, to be laying there on the mat knocked out. I really hope Hatton recovers and just gives it one more go and top off his very good career with a win.

I don't know ricky should hang em up, his punch resistance has gone to shits and when you fight with the style that he does with and you aren't able to take much of a punch anymore you're basically fucked. It's similar but not to the extreme if andrade couldn't take a punch as well anymore as he does...sucks to see him go out on a loss like this but hey he lost to the p4p guy in pac, better him then get caught cold by khan or...
