    Default Amateur Scoring

Just after opinions on the scoring system? I for one am not a big fan, and don't think it prepares amateur boxers well enough for life in pro boxing, it seems to me that this is a widely shared view? Does anyone like the scoring system? and if so... why!?

Also, anyone catch the ABA finals on setanta 2 on friday- good show, glad to see amateurs on t.v.

I think the scoring system is fine in amateur Boxing. It's the guys doing the scoring that's the problem. I watched ABA the other day and the judges were looking around talking to people. it's no wonder scores dont get added up.

the amateurs need to be getting more TV attention and its good to see setanta taking the initiative.

Billy Joe Saunders was speaking the other day about how the biggest regret of his career could well be turning pro and not winning those prestigious ABA`s that can set you on the path to stardom. Sadly though the fella needs to make a living and he would of been absoloutely bonkers to have turned down a fight deal with SKY.

Im not a huge fan of the way the ams get scored as it just does not prepare them for life as a professional fighter.

Being an amatuer fighter I think the scoring is flat out DUMB. I mean what is the difference between amatuers and pros? Headgear and the weight of gloves. That is all that should be the difference. If someone knocks down someone 3 times and the other guy slaps, runs, and holds ( I've had this done to me) and he get's the round it is a bit ridiculous. I can't believe some people think the scoring is good I mean people come on haven't we seen the last 3 olympics? It is just god awful they should get rid of everything scoring wise in the amatuers and just let people fight. The amatuer's ranks nowaday's are not preparing anyone to fight in a pro style by fighting this way it sucks. GET RID OF IT !!!
