Default If RJJ and B-Hop fought at various different stages through their careers!!

Forgetting the weights they were operating at (as they could've both got to an equal weight) who do you think would have won between RJJ and B-Hop had they fought during the years below!

    1996

    2003

    2009

I say RJJ wins in 96, B-Hop wins the other 2.

For me RJ was still a beast in 2003 (before cutting cutting the weight).

Id say Roy takes Nard in '96 & '03 but he just aint got enough to get the job done these days...

Roy takes it in '96 handily. The version that fought Tarver(2003) would get beaten. 2009? Hopkins without a doubt.

Jones wins all three...1996 he may have even stopped bhop, 2003 before going to HW Jones again, and even now the only way to beat a severely faded jones is with activity which bhop doesn't have...so he'd be pot shot and lose a decision.

Antonio Tarver didn't win on activity. I'd say the RJJ that fought Antonio Tarver in there 1st meeting would lose to Bernard Hopkins, he was horrible in that fight.

The 1996 peak version of RJJ at Super Middleweight ? would no doubt in my mind beat Bernard Hopkins.

And the 2009 version of RJJ would beat Bernard Hopkins, based on still having the much quicker hands. And he can still out counter and win exchanges vs Bernard Hopkins. And its not like he has to worry about Bernard Hopkins workrate is it ?

    96 - Roy by decision
    03- Bernard by dcecision
    09 Bernard by TKO

I can't believe anyone would bet on RJJ vs Hopkins now. RJJ is so past it it's unbelievable. But wins over Jeff Lacy and Omar Sheika do that for people I guess

Styles make fights RJJ isn't going to do, well against good pressure fighters. Because he mostly lays on the ropes and he hasn't got the legs anymore.

But against a mostly defensive counter puncher in Bernard Hopkins, who's workrate is pretty low. RJJ can possibly win in a chess match, by having the faster hands. And winning exchanges with his better combination punching.

I dont know bud.Roys legs are history and I def dont see Hopkins being dumb enough to let him ride the ropes alot like he did first time around.I think he would be bolstered and try to walk him off,get him ring center.Hopkins still is a great mover with not to shabby hand speed of his own and unlike Jones still he has a sturdy foundation.I dont think Jones can stay inside with a physical Hopkins,he would be on his heels right now when he trys to move out.Believe Hopkins stops him.

That's why i said before going to HW...if Roy would have fought BHOP in march '03 instead of ruiz he would have beaten him.

your last two comments seem to only echo what i said.

I see Roy JOnes winning at almost any point in their career, Roy isn't as good at nullifying opponents offense which has been Bernard's bread and butter, his ability to nerf offensive fighters flare. Against Roy though I think he loses because Roy in terms of a chess match is the better fighter, Hopkins is great if you come at him or try to beat him up, but if you fight him like Jermain did, use speed, don't fight overly aggresive, Bernard can't get a read on you, and nobody potshots better from the outiside than Roy Jones Jr. He is the most imaginative, and most difficult guy to counter cleanly, all the while he is the only guy in the world that I've seen who has consistently hit Bernard, sure Roy is slower than he used to be, but so is Hopkins, and Roy still has his creativeness.
