Default Anyone burning Blu Ray's yet?

I hadn't even thought about this until tonight.. The last time I saw blank Blu Ray discs for sale they were $32 Australian which is around the same price for a new release movie on Blue Ray,,,, so really there was no use.. If you can buy the a proper real release for the same price as a disc and burning a movie, then why not.... Then you factor in the price of the burner itself it wasn't worth it...

But perhaps these days the blank discs have gotten a little cheaper, at least buying in bulk of 10 or 20 discs... And I assume more companies are making burners now so there are some reasonably priced ones out there...

Anyone with experience of this yet?

This isn't blu ray related but something I just discovered... My PS3 has a cool auto clean function.. You turn the switch off at the back, then hold down eject and turn the switch back on...
You'll then hear the fans crank up to warp speed for about 10 seconds to blow dust out, then the thing turns off again... quite awesome... I'm not sure if it works for all PS3's though..
Go try it if you havn't already..

They sell a pack of 8 for $99 here at Costco, me and a couple friends pitched in and bought a pack for a friend of mine who got a writer.

OK that couldn't have been right, this was a couple years ago but has the price really gone down this much?

The main one is just storage. A DVD can hold at max 10 gb usually maybe recently they've gotten them to store more. A Blu Ray disc can hold 50 GB and potentially more. That's the main thing.

The storage thing, fair enough, thats always a good thing, but I just dont see the fuss over the picture quality, that goes for HD too.

Blue ray will follow CD and DVD in that pikeys will be knocking them out for next to nothing soon enough
When God said to the both of us "Which one of you wants to be Sugar Ray?" I guess I didnt raise my hand fast enough

I was actually really really impressed with HD and Blu ray.. the reason was that I got my PS3 and were using the regular RCA cables for a little while with my new HD tv... For gaming and dvd's etc... And i'd heard mixed things about whether HD was much different and I didn't know whether it was worth getting a HDMI cable... But I eventually did and the difference was amazing... I think if someone can show you regular RCA dvd, vs HDMI blu-ray, it can be really impressive...
Plus the PS3 games as well, I couldn't beleive the difference in resolution between the regular old red/white cables, and when I plugged in the HDMI...

It's just the new technology though, in 10 years people will be stepping up to Red Ray or something and it'll be twice the resolution... A shit movie is a shit movie whatever the quality... But I wouldn't give up my HDMI cable for anything now... It easily doubles my enjoyment of my TV and at $2000 you want to get the most for what you pay for...

I think alot of it is that I work with some serious IT geeks and technonerds who MUST have the latest technology so Im always getting 'you getting a PS3 yet?'

They are forever showing me stills of films, one in DVD, one in Blueray.

Im now kinda obliged to say I dont see what all the fuss is about

The guy who sits next to me has just taken delivery of his latest piece of techno crap. A remote control, 90 quid
