    Default Seriously FUCK ESPN!

OK I watched PTI and Around The Horn and 2 things caught my attention

#1 L.A. Times Sports writer Bill Plaschke said that the United States Men's National team is "in big trouble" for the World Cup after a "poor performance" vs Holland.....oh really? I thought we just lost by 1 and held our own vs the #4 team in the world!!!!

#2 Dumbass Michael Wilbon said "Boxing is so over, it's sad"....oh really? I thought people were about to wet themselves with anticipation at the thought of Mayweather-Pacquiao just a few months ago.

ESPN has gone from Sports REPORTING to just being Sports Talk Radio on TV and they don't care about right or wrong, they just want to have the loudest opinion about a topic. Look at the way they handled Tiger Woods' situation, they acted like Woods was the ONLY sports icon to cheat on his wife ever in the history of sports. I'm not defending Tiger but ESPN was being stupid about it.

The only sports "reporter" not affiliated with ESPN that pisses me off more than that group of bastards is Jason Whitlock that fat stooge over at Foxsports.com and the Kansas City Star or whatever 3rd rate paper he writes for. Whitlock and Jim Rome should be shot on site!

We should kill them all. Revolution, anarchy, down with ESPN.

I don't watch any of their stuff, so am not qualified to say too much, but to be saying that boxing is over really isn't very nice. It's doing alright considering all the crap we have to put up with with all those divas at the top.

Well, Lyle PTI is just an opinion based talk show, they don't make any bones to being serious straight reporting.

But Wilbon does take every chance to talk about boxing being irrelevant. And national media people, since they seem to try to be well versed in a lot of subjects end up knowing jack shit about anything.

In the end ESPN still shows a weekly boxing show and all the US soccer games, I do think Wilbon's a douche.

Was it ESPN that tried to keep mum about the Ben Rothlisberger alleged rape story?

I remember Steven A. Smith showing his bias in the NBA finals when he consistently gave Detroit 0 chance to beat LA. Even when they were down 3-2.

The Around the Horn people were the same idiots that said both "Beckham will be the best thing to hit the MLS" and "Americans don't care about soccer"....when obviously somebody does as the MLS is still in business and the US National Side is doing better than they ever have before and to not notice that is just poor reporting. The last times we have played the Dutch we've been shut out and completely dominated, but this go round we held our own and not to mention just a few months ago we beat World #1 Spain...I don't know if they are lowering expectations for our team on purpose to get everyone excited if we do well in the World Cup but whatever "angle" they are working it's wrong and I fucking hate those puff piece Olympic life struggle stories "Johnny is going for gold just days after his father passed away unexpectedly and a couple months removed from being hit by a taxi cab where he broke both legs and was told he would never walk again".....I HATE THAT BULLSHIT

I usually give Tony Kornheiser the benefit of the doubt because there's a lot of stuff he simply plays devil's advocate about, and he's funny, but there are a lot of ESPN anchors and the talking heads on Around The Horn that know fuck all about anything yet as you say Oumafan, they affect a knowledge of everything by giving out their opinions freely and loudly.

As Zilla said look at how they covered Ben Rothlisberger vs how they covered Kobe Bryant...totally different coverage and for no good reason either.

I'm just surprised that any man with common sense watches PTI or watch ESPN for any sort of commentary at all. IMO it's only good for highlights. It's nothing more than some tabloid rag that's up there with People Magazine, US Weekly, the National Enquirer, etc.

Max Kellerman was really the only guy on ESPN who stood up for boxing. Can't remember who it was but after a press conference scuffle, one analyst said something to the effect of 'boxing back to it's old self' and Max went off on him. If you want objective views on boxing just stick to HBO, as ESPN only seems interested when something bad happens.

The SPORTS they put out (College Football/Basketball, Soccer, Boxing, NFL, MLB, etc) are pretty solid, but everything else, even SportsCenter is crap and filled with "storylines" and "talking points"

Actually, Big Ben apparently rape thing has been covered by Espn: Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger accused of sexual assault - ESPN

Hopefully for my beloved Steelers that guy doesn't turn out to be another high rated athlete to be a fuck** and it is just another attempt to get money from a high profile athlete.

As for ESPN, I do not watch it that much, for boxing news sometimes and only about american football when the season begins because we don't have high profile website about these sports in Canada, there is RDS and TSN but they are correct, nothing more. Now, to say that boxing is dead is plain silly, one has to not have followed the actual scene to spew such stupid comments.

How can he US national team be in 'big trouble'?

It's not like anybody is giving you much of a chance to do anything anyway. Well not outside of the US anyway. What are the expectations inside the US? Qualifying from the group stage?

Wish I had ESPN2, just for FNFs. I like watching them and especially with the regulars because it truly sucks watching links on the PC. Especially when they are time delayed by a minute or so and you cant help but read the text in chat...to forever see, "Oh dam! He's down again. And it's over!" lol

but yea, just FNFs the rest i couldn't give a shit about.
