Default Khan-Malinaggi confirmed for May 15th

Amir Khan will make his American debut on 15 May with promoters Golden Boy finally set to announce his WBA light-welterweight title defence against Paulie Malignaggi later this week.
Khan, Malignaggi and the president of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar De La Hoya, will hold a press conference in London on Friday to officially announce the fight, which will be held at the Madison Square Garden Theater. The fight was agreed around a month ago but only confirmed officially today as loose ends were tied up.

I'm going with Khan in this one, Paulie can't outspeed him or knock him out. It's the perfect opponent for Khan to make his American debut. It's on HBO Boxing After Dark and it's in the theatre at MSG not the main building, so they're not expecting a massive crowd. Khan is supposed to be on a $1.25 million minimum for his fights and HBO are paying $1.5 for it. After the promoters' take that doesn't leave a lot for Paulie, he's probably looking at about $250. He'll be super fired up for the fight but I don't see him beating Khan. He's only got a puncher's chance.

as for the fight its all about matchups, both of these guys are relatively good names, but its just not a good matchup. Khan's matchmakers certainly don't wing it, you can see exactly what their thinking with every fight since the KO.

I'll take Khan. It'll be an interesting boxing match to watch, but there isn't a chance that Malignaggi KO's Khan. A perfect opponent for Khan to fight for his American debut. Someone he'll look good outboxing but won't be in danger of getting KO'd

If Willie Limond can have Khan wobbled, so can Paulie Malignaggi, end of. This is a very good match-up for me. Close decision either way man.

dont know why exactly but i just have this feeling that malignaggi will take him

Khan essentially fights front footed fighters and he definitely has never met anyone with malignaggi`s hand speed. He may just become frustrated eventually and smother his own work and malignaggi may just pick and run at will

    malignaggi on a decision

Easy win for Khan, what has Paulie got to offer.

Paulie is a good test for Khan, regardless of his lack of power.

Khan should take it though, via UD.

Speed, a jab, nonflatfootedness, defense and counter punching.

Amir Khan has looked like Juan Diaz with a little more power lately, against a flatfooted guy he can plant his feet and throw his combinations wonderfully. Malignaggi isnt flatfooted and isn't gonna give Khan a chance to get off so Khan is gonna have to move in this fight and I don't think he'll like that

    On paper Khan's hardest fight.

Malinaggi has had lots of tough hard fights and matches Khan in most areas apart from punch power.

I would give Khan a slight edge but only just.

I was thinking the same thing...Malignaggi regardless of how people feel about him personally have to give him his boxing credit...A puncher no but boxer for sure.....

If the parting with Buddy has done the good it seems it may be a bad night for Kahn......The Paulie that fought Cotto etc can handle anything kahn has to offer

I am hoping for comedy gold...a Paulie Malignaggi win by knockout, but I will settle for a Malignaggi decision though as that is more realistic. Malignaggi needs to make sure he keeps the momentum moving and not fall into any of those lazy habits like against Hatton. All things going well Khan should have his hands full.

Same here. I have con boy winning it 8-4 or possibly 9-3. Yes Paulie has skills, but his lack of punch power puts him in a category of a mid level contender or borderline gate keeper.
