Default Alexander Povetkin vs Teke Oruh

That's right people, former IBF #1 Contender and Teddy Atlas trainer Alexander Povetkin will fight Teke Oruh 14 (6 KO's)-2 in Chekhov, Russia October 16.

For those of us that have harped on who Wlad and Chicken Little are fighting next, this is welcome news because FINALLY someone deserving is getting a shot at a contender. Teke Oruh, despite being someone I've never heard of before, obviously has proven his worth in this division by beating the likes of (hold on let me check his record)...........Jason Gavern. The two losses on Oruh's record were vs Manuel Quezada and Joey Abell.

The plan is for Povetkin to win this fight easily and then return to fight again on October 30th. That being said this is a fucking weak fight and that's after comparing it to who Wlad and Chicken Little are fighting. Povetkin has a very weak record, Eddie Chambers is the only guy I think that Povetkin has fought that was any good...maybe you throw in Larry Donald and an old Chris Byrd, but since then it's been: Taurus Sykes, Jason Estrada, Leo Nolan, and Javier Mora.....that's fucking sad competition right there.

The opponents I would think Povetkin is ready for and that he should fight to prepare himself for a title shot are: Ruslan Chagaev, Alexander Dimitrenko, Dennis Boytsov, Oleh Platov, Sam Peter, Cris Arreola, Travis Walker, hell I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Dominick Guinn whom has never been KO'd so you figure at least he'll get some rounds in.

As disappointing as the heavyweight division has been for most people, Povetkin stands out to me as the most disappointing fighter in this division.

i agree for the most part, but the only thing I would throw in is that he hasn't had a ton of fights with his new trainer and they may still need to gel together before getting throw in with tougher competition. i'm not excusing the level of competition though. i'd like to see a fight between povetkin and arreola.

Povetkin is 31, a gold medalist, and has fought tougher competition in the past, why not at least try and get some rounds in. Sure he'll be back on the 30th but vs another no hoper....the guy is wasting his opportunity to hone his skill.

I'd at least put him on track to win the European title.

Povetkin should knock this guy out or at the very least win a shutout decision. I seen Oruh fight once...Abell whose a crude power puncher out boxed him on shobox a few years back. Hopefully the opponent on the 30th is a lot better...Guinn would definitely go rounds.

After that they should (like Adamek) fight someone similar in size to Wladimir. If they're really set on fighting him...I'm having some doubts about that.

Excluding Helenius(his stablemate) there's not many right handers over 6'5".

Ray Austin would be perfect for Povetkin right now.
