Default Povetkin is so scared of Wlad that...

He's trying to figure out how to return to the amateur ranks...FACT. (there's a link on boxingscene that explains it better).

This begs the question "What the hell has Teddy Atlas done to Povetkin?"

I've heard rumours David Haye wants to take part in the next commonwealth games.

    Stays on here.

dont think he is even allowed to go back to amateurs is he

If he is genuinely scared of fighting a klitschko then i would suggest he trim down that pot belly and get himself down to cruserweight level

Only worrys youve got there is fighting against an average marco huck and herbie hide who is a few years short of a free bus pass
    one dangerous horrible bloke

Going by the article Povetkin misses the boat even if they did allow it.

It still makes you wonder what Povetkin's goals are and what Atlas has planned for the guy.

Being here in the past 17 months, I've noticed 2 things about Lyle on this board. He really really hates the liberals/leftwingers/democrats and he has a man-love affair with Wlad. That's all the guy talks about when it comes to either politics or boxing, those 2 same subjects in almost every post.

Yes I do hate liberals, but why does anyone have an issue with me posting about Wlad #1 he is THE heavyweight champion of the world #2 he is not viewed with respect by the average boxing fan so I have to teach them why he's so damn good and #3 This thread is about Povetkin going from Mandatory challenger to out of the top 10 to wanting to fight in the amateurs again without ever losing a fight, as a fan of the sport and given the state of the heavyweight division its just fucking sad to see this about Povetkin.

....People mainly complain about my posting about Chicken Little

I like several fighters but right now nobody is really doing much hence this post.

Back on topic, what is next for Povetkin and does anyone think highly of him anymore?

Yeah what the hell did happen to povetkin? His heart must have just left him somewhere along the way, I thought teddy would toughen him up and get him ready to fight one of the k bros. Seems like he stayed right along on his path of regression and soon should be fighting cabbies with 1-8-2 records for the pan european wbf title. Very weird to see this maybe he just isn't cut out for the pro game at the top level.

I agree its just so odd that a guy can go and fight pretty tough opposition and dominate and then just professionally regress like this. Wlad offered him over 2 million and he didn't take it, I figure if he wanted to cash out that would have been the way to go, but to sit around fight nobodies and then feel bad that you're not an amateur again is just ridiculous.

What has Atlas brought to this kid? Is he any better? He obviously doesn't feel he's ready for a title shot and he's not moving towards earning one.

I think Povetkin needs to drop Atlas, if your trainer talked you out of a title fight that may never come again that's one thing, but for him to have such of a lack of faith that you are considering renouncing your pro status well, what's the point really? It's maybe time to get with someone that can move you forward.

Teddy has done nothing to Povetkin...He just knows he is not ready for the Klitschkos, Neither one of them...Atlas is not going to send a lamb into slaughter for the sake of a title shot,,,,He rather let Povetkin fight second tier guys keep improving him then wait to see what opens up in the future...Povetkin is 31 fairly young for a HW these days so he has time....Why ruin a fighter when he has the potential to do much better down the road?......Teddy knows what he is doing....

Be that as it may Daxx, I've got to disagree with the direction Teddy is taking Povetkin. Sasha is 31 years old, a former Gold medalist, and has a pretty solid pro record of 20 (15 KO)-0-0, but the guy has gone from fighting a difficult Larry Donald, a game Chris Byrd, and a very tough Eddie Chambers to the likes of: Taurus Sykes, Jason Estrada, Leo Nolan, Javier Mora, and Teke Orah...and it's not as if he's fighting very often either (which was one of Teddy's original goals).

This heavyweight division may not have much in the way of challenges for guys like Wlad and Vitali, but it still has PLENTY of challenges out there for guys like Povetkin and I am just shocked Teddy hasn't wanted to test his fighter AT ALL. I get the whole "I don't want a Klitschko to ruin my fighter" mentality but Teke Oruh?!?!?! Who the fuck is that? I follow the division and had never heard of the guy! Why not fight a seasoned veteran fighter that can give him rounds? That's what he needs he needs some ring experience. Dig up Krasniqi or Lyakhovich I think they'd give him good work, Povetkin should at LEAST be working towards the European title....he could (should) beat Dimitrenko and that would be great practice for him.

...look none of these guys have a chance beating either one but going the amature route seems kinda silly. I don't see why he doesn't get experience against some of the other heavy's that can't beat wlad or vitali either. I'm not necessarily a fan but i have no problem with the klitch's, when they were vulnerable no one else had a problem with them either. Now that they've done what every boxer in the world dreams of which is completly rule a division, people have a problem. If they were american hbo and everyone else would treat them like the greatest thing boxing has ever seen. Either way i'd rather see povetkin bow out and take another route, instead of doing the david haye and stalking the guys just to grab his dress and run from them. Besides if povetkin did go back to the amatures he'd still be facing better competetion than audley freakin harrison. And people are actually paying money to see that garbage....
