    Default Great British Roast

Now there are many things that us Brits invent and then others do better.

However the good old fashioned roast is like nothing elsewhere. Carvery preferred so that you can pile up that plate. A good carvery should include a minimum of 2 meats (ideally 3).

Carvery, talk about it. Do you guys get a roast elsewhere in the world?

There is no finer meal than an English roast dinner. It is perfection on a plate.

I love lamb; it is the specialty of my kitchen. Can't understand why it isn't more popular.
Saturday, got together with some friends and roasted a turkey on a spit and drank some beer...pretty good day.

Not to keen going to Carvary's, would much rather cook a roast dinner for the family myself.

My bro booked a table at a local pub/restaurant for Mothers day last week, it did have a good rep for doing good food, DID being the word here. It was shite, not one of us enjoyed anything they served us, the veg looked like shit and over cooked, Yorkshire puds looked like they were cooked 2 days before.

After complaining we were offered a free lunch the following sunday, of course this was turned down, and a full refund was given. Have heard some awful stories about the place since !!

A slow roast pork joint is tops, and beef slow roasted to medium rare with a rosemary, black pepper and thyme crust, carnt beat it !

Roasts are great. I generally find British food too plain for the most part, but really can't beat a roast.
I agree carverys can be dodgy at times though. Always find what with the gravy having been left out all day it's lukewarm, thick, and just nasty.
Can be a good deal though if you want to eat to excess.
