    Default The Good

I spend enough time lamenting the current state of my favorite sport that I even wear my own ass out. So let's do something different. What is good about the fight game today. In no order

Tim Bradley-No he's not great, but he sure is admirable. Always fit, always fights hard.

    Montreal and Quebec
-I don't know when these two cities became real fight towns, but we're lucky they are. Go-Go Girls at the fights? What a concept!

Nick Charles-I don't know how much longer we'll have him.

    Miguel Cotto-See the Bradley description.

Tecata Commercials-I don't speak Spanish and even I get them. Con Character!

    Sauol on Friday Night Fights
-Someday he's going to clock Teddy Atlas!

    Amir Kahn
-He reacted to a loss precisely as one should. Learn and improve.

The Cuban Invasion-Hopefully the Gamboa success spurs even more defections!

The Super Six-Sure it's had major problems. But it reintroduced the idea that the best should fight the best over and over and over again and that an occasional loss isn't a big deal.

Sergio Martinez-He might be a great fighter! Can a brother get a decent 160 to fight him?

    Germany
-While the idea of 60,000 screaming Germans all in one place can give the historically minded pause? That market has clearly brought a renaissance of sorts to Euro-boxing.

    Good post

    Also

Nonito Donaire deserves to be mentioned. He could be great too!

The continued globalization of boxing. It's great we have guys from Nottingham fighting Jamaicans in New Jersey.

I'm still angry with Nonito. Between the Vac and Montiel KO's was a three and a half year period where he was 24-28. He did almost nothing meaningful with those years. Aaaaargh

Nottingham fighting Jamaicans in NJ is pretty good huh?

It's totally redundant, but Manny Pacquiao's cross-over appeal and exciting style has brought a ton of mainstream attention to the sport.

I have to admit watching Manny Pac is exciting.

Also David Haye while it lasts.

Groves v De Gale has also got me excited.

Victor Ortiz- Kept at it while most had written him off, could have quit in the Berto fight. Also he is a very humble and respectful guy.

They were also physically over-matched. Sydorenko looked liked a lightweight facing a middleweight

Yeah they are. Now look at what you just said. That in the 3 and 1/2 years between the Vic and Montiel KO's, while in his mid -20's? Decent is the best that can be said about the best guys Nonito faced.

I hear you. I consider Donaire to be a genius in the ring. To bad he's a Special Ed student outside of it

Montreal has always been a great fight town, wasn't Duran-Leonard I there? Although I must say Quebec is a province or whatever the hell those Canadians call them

A heavyweight unification fight coming up (regardless of who wins) its good, its the first since Wlad-Sultan a couple years ago and unlike Sultan I think Wlad's opponent will come to fight....I hope he does.

I think he meant Quebec City, the capital of Quebec, where Hopkins - Pascal I was staged.

Ortiz just seems to be in his own little world alot of the time. While he isn't a rocket scientist, he doesn't seem unintelligent to me (just a little spacey).

Of course, anything is better than some of the boxers we have in terms of interviews. My personal favorite is Paul Williams. Every time he says you know in an interview, TAKE A SHOT If he completes the entire phrase and says, you know what I'm saying, TAKE 2 SHOTS. By the end of a 5 minute interview I'm completely obliterated.

Refreshing topic. Gotta agree with the captain. Upsets do it for me, all shapes and sizes. The Salidos of the sport when all future hyped up matches and next so and so superstars are upended and the sport is turned on its ear.
