Thread: Manfredo and Darren Barker are the front runners for Chavez Jr, according to Arum..

Both are intriguing fights imo where Jr is more likely to lose... I really like the sound of these matchups and it's about time Jr fought some real threats.. I guess it's about time arum felt like he had no choice but to put him in there with at least somebody after all the complaints by the fans and media..

Manfredo is no killer but i can say with confidence that he's a notch above Chavez and he'll shock him.. Barker too... he's no saviour of the MW division but he could beat Jr and it wouldnt even be an upset in my eyes..

i agree Chavez Jr has been babied along, silver spoon in mouth, like a real candy-ass, taking on Camacho's strategy of padding the record good with alot of tomato cans and so forth. Manfredo is certainly a notch above previous comp for Chavez Jr. And actually I think Jr. isnt ready for this notch higher and will be in for a real reality check.

Manfredo has had TWICE as many fights as Barker. Definitely will bring more problems for Jr than Barker.

I disagree and think Jr. might be much better than most are giving him credit for. His body punches would punish Manfredo.

yes he's great to the body but Manfredo will block alot fo those shots

He showed hella heart last fight too. He can take a punch and can be a dangerous fighter especially with the crowd he can pull. I kinda dig him now after last fight. He showed me me has better skills and heart than most were giving him because of weak competition. Roach can do wonders with him IMHO.

Yea, Chavez/Barker is a 50-50 fight imo but Manfredo definitely has many advantages over him... I dont think Jr is ready for him either..

Barker sounds like a cracking fight though..

Manfredo can box fairly well and actually has some deceptive power.

He would be a tall order for Chavez Jr.

I'd really like to see Manfredo get the payday. His story is incredibly depressing.

Looks like Martinez/Barker is set to go so i guess that leaves Manfredo..
