    Interesting views from Roach

Don't buy The Ring any more so son't know if they have done their "Haye v Klitschlko who will win ? Twenty experts have their say" article as yet. Presume they have.

If so can anyone share the stats on how many went for Haye ??

It was 17-3 in favour of Wlad. Seth Mitchell, Tris Dixon and and Kevin Johnson were the ones that picked Haye

Since El Kabong asked, and as a way to shamelessly nudge up my post count, the 17 that picked Wlad were:

    Brian Kenny
    Bernard Fernandez
    Tim Starks
    Monte Barrett
    Lem Satterfield
    Bjorn Jensen
    Crivelli Riccardo
    Graham Maclean
    David Griesman
    Kieran Mulvaney
    Steve Farhood
    Tim Smith
    Eddie Chambers
    Thomas Dierenga
    Al Bernstein
    Vittorio Parisi
    Genaro Hernandez (RIP)

I think pretty much every one of them picked him by KO.

Barrett's pick was interesting. He said although he thinks Wlad will win, if anyone can beat him it's Haye. He said Haye has deceptive power and punches just as hard as Wlad. He also said he's crafty and you never have a steady target which is something he wasn't prepared for, and that he has a good sense of measuring and manoeuvring his way into punching range.

He said the only way he sees Haye winning is if he puts Wlad into uncomfortable spaces, which is something he doesn't like, but he doesn't see Haye being able to do that. He did acknowledge that Wlad's a different beast to when he fought him, but it's interesting never the less.

Roach did work with him a little bit, he may just have faith in the kid. Nothing wrong there. Roach had also worked a little with Wlad....I don't know if there's any bitterness on either side there but I'm sure Freddy has his reasons.

Regardless..you have to respect any opinion roach gives when it comes to boxing,he knows farrr more than any of us!Hes obviously seen weaknesses in wlad like we all have.but hes seen them close hand.....im convinced haye will hurt wlad at some point and for tht reason haye will win!!

Mentally, Vlad's the same fighter. A good jab and size advantage do a lot to inspire confidence, but do little to erase doubt. That's something that inside a fighter and hard to get out. Sometimes facing the thing they fear the most can cure them. So something like getting off the deck to beat Peter could be that spark for Vlad, but.. I don't think so. It's kind of easy to see inside of a fighter. They either reflect inward and look timid (like wvald / roy jones jr after the ko) or they act out (like judah/tyson) to convince themselves and psych their opponents into buying it.
The guys that act inward work in regular patterns because they believe deviating from it can be disastrous. It's a comfort zone like Roach says. Roach brakes down a fighter similarly to how I always looked at fighters... You look for bad habits. Things that can't be helped or controlled. It's not like a glass chin, but when and where you get to that glass chin. Something like bringing a jab back low, a fighter tapping his gloves together after getting hit, switching stance to keep his feet from getting crossed up when circling away from the power hand... or something mental. For some its doubt/fear... for others its anger (like when Tyson bit holyfield.. and evander lost focus and Tyson was actually doing better for a minute).. Usually these involuntary things are very hard to control and difficult to unlearn/ or correct in the prep time for a fight., which is why trainers comb tapes looking for these habits.
I can see what Freddy is talking about with Wvlad. You could always see it under the surface. In something like the Sanders fight, you could see how much the knock downs and not getting up were as much mental as physical. Wvlad's world was shook. Everything he knew about sports science and what he thought he knew about his body and his sport, went out the window... (like the first time someone gets drunk and does the spacewalk.. or gets into a fight and their bodies are shaking from the adrenalin and they might start hyper ventilating)... all of sudden, he wanted to be somewhere else.. anywhere else... Why would Freddy voice that publicly? not sure, but its not like some major secret that the man panics, when hes rocked.
That being said. I think some people are overlooking that fact that Haye (at least in my opinion) is susceptible to the same. Beating Valuev (especially because of his size) was confidence building. I think if klitchsko scores a decent knockdown of Haye, Hayes view of his own reality will be different also... in creeps doubt. It might be even more catastrophic for him because hes so high on himself. The doubter can get knocked down and tell himself he expected it. The braggart gets knocked down and becomes humble because he never expected it. Just my opinion of course..
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Haye will want Wlad out of there ASAP.
The longer it goes on, the more chance of Haye being on the wrong end of a right hand which would be game over.
I think the first round will start slow, but may just fire up in the last minute.

I doubt haye has more heart than wlad,(or vice versa) your confusing heart with chin. Even when wlad was being battered by sanders he kept getting up, granted he was doing the chicken dance all over the ring but the man refused to stay down.

My opinion haye has more heart..when the going gets tough wlad is nowhere to be seen(he showed SOME heart in the samuel peter fight)he literally falls apart sometimes that is more mental than physical! The comment that freddie makes that wlad turned round and said "i wish i could fight"he can not fight granted he can box supremely well..but haye is a fighter/boxer and styles make fights!Wlad has never faced anything like haye before..and i can be sure as i can be about anything haye will hurt wlad before wlad will hurt haye, wlad wont throw the right hand until hes completley comfortable and that will be his downfall!...anyway cannot wait till 2nd july
