Good fight...to wonder about, any way. May be a not so good fight in reality because they both liked to counter. But at 168 Toney would go and get you and he'd be too busy, and Eubanks wouldn't be able to cleanly counter him. Toney ud 12
This would have been a very interesting fight to watch, lots of skill and combination punching. Toney wouldnt dance or run and I see them pretty much in each others face putting on a very good boxing exhibition.
If anyone is interested go on utube and watch Jonathan Ross with eubank and benn talking smack with James toney with Micky rourke
I watched that when it happened on TV.
It seemed they both took it very personal, if that had happened nowadays im sure there would have been alot more banter.
Could you imagine if it was Ricardo Mayorga instead of Benn!![]()
Id go for Eubank, maybe even split decision. both defensively sound so might not be a tear up, but intreaguing one for sure.
I'm a big fan of Eubank and really thought he was underrated, but I gotta go with Toney all the way.
Toney at his best was an ATG who would be a brutal fight for ANYONE from 160-175 (except Roy Jones obviously haha)
Hopkins is always entertaining in those type of situations!!!
This really depends when they fought. Eubanks was at his very best when he beat Benn before the Watson tragedy. James was brilliant against Nunn and others but had inconsistent performances against Tiberia. At their best it would be a good and entertaining fight both taking each other to their limits. Neither could knock one another out, both had unbelievable chins and defence but if I had to choose at a push it would be Toney in the US and Eubanks in the UK with WBO officials.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Not sure who I'd go with in London but possibly Eubank in the US with the pressure off
If Eubank boxed and moved, he had some of the best lateral movement at the time and a really good stiff left jab he stepped in with and doubled- hard to read, James was slippery but against readable blows and quite flat-footed. I would favour Eubank to pick up an early lead atleast. Interesting though, hard to visual
