Thread: Erik Morales 6 time World Champion !

Hey the belt was a joke, especially seein as Morales was fighting a late replacement for the belt, but lets give it up for Erik !

We all know that 6th world title in a 5th weight class was long overdue since Erik got SCREWED against Diaz and Maidana.

That kid Cano was pretty tough last night, but boy was he busted up and bloody by the end.

Good fight and good for Morales.

Yeah hes a great old warrior who bought us some of the best fights in history if not the best fight in modern history and at my fav weight too. Full props.

Lets NOT celebrate a silly "world" title.

Morales is a great fighter. Fact. He doesn't need to beat an obscure kid, not even rated in the top 10, for a ridiculous alphabet title to get plaudits.

Not Morales fault fighters were tripping over themselves to avoid fighting him. Cano is a good, young fighter. But the great Morales wouldn't be denied

Here's the real question, Does Morales pay the sanctioning fees for the fight? He's going to retire now anyway. Or should he go ahead and fight Bradley now for a bigger payday? Since even if he loses he already achieved his goal anyway.

I think everything now is just icing on the cake for Morales. The monkey is off his back, and some of his critics should go away. He's not a has been yet. I think anything now is gravy, wouldn't be surprised to see him take the biggest fight possible. Aka Amir Khan.

Morales only won titles in 4 weight classes, he's the first Mexican fighter to ever win a title in more than 3 weight classes that's why it was a big deal to him, he not only has now outdone Barrera, but Marquez, and the great Chavez as well

he won titles at super bantamweight, featherweight, super featherweight, and now jr welterweight

I enjoyed that fight, so much blood! Was worried early on, but the old man targeted the cuts and worked it out. He's slower, but just as smart.

The guys a living legend and rely deserved this!if he retires or takes 1 last pay day gd luck to him.it would class if he could roll back the years and beat khan.can't c it personally but u never know

A big congrats to Morales and I would still like to see him fight Marquez, regardless of the outcome with Pacman at 140.

the funny thing is the guy who personified what boxing should be was Morales, i say yank both Mayweather, Ortiz, and Cortez' paycheck and give it to both Morales and the young kid Cano, both of them did a hell of a lot more to deserve it than anyone in the main event did

Think didn't look as strong this weekend, might be fading a bit now. Don't think he would beat maidana if they fought again, well done to him for winning though.

i don't see why not, he still took the punches well, and he was in there with a younger guy (than Maidana), and a guy with better speed and technical ability than Maidana, i'm not saying that Morales would without a doubt win a rematch but IMO he'd give Maidana just as much hell as he did the first time around
