    Default Ipod novice - questions

Call me a technophobe or what you want but I never had an ipod or anything like that as not wanted one. When playing music at home have used laptop with palylists stored on windows media player etc. where I have thousands of tracks that I have either downloaded or burned from cds. Also use a USB stick in car for my music .

But now am getting sick of carting laptop round , bit bulky, to different rooms and having to use external speakers when got people round at home so thinking of something esle. All I want is a docking station really through which to play music on my USB stick.

But can you get those ? eg if having a party or something I just whack a couple of hundred tracks temporarily on and put it on random.

Or am I best getting an ipod - plenty of docking stations for those ! But I would never use itunes.

Can I just transfer all my mp3s on pc onto it ? Will it take all the tags ?

Can I add new stuff to it easy without going through i tunes ?

Can I copy my windows media player playlists onto it ?

Media player was easier eg if xmas time you just typed xmas into search bar and it would give you a list of everything that mentioned xmas insong title, album title etc.. and you just hit.....PLAY !!!!

Sorry for all the questions but I need fucking answers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think the product you want exists mate. I like iTunes and have all my music on there. I also bought a shit hot docking station on Amazon last week (Black Friday deal down to £35.00 from £90.00) which I am now using to dock my Nano.

You must have streaming capability between your laptop and PS3? Set it up, sort out your playlist on your Windows media player, play it out of your TV, sorted?

Or plug your USB stick directly into your TV (if capable) or PS3 (assuming it has the same usb cabability as xbox360)?

You can load music straight from your computer to your Ipod. You can use earphones to listen to it when you want to be alone, place it a docking station when you want to share with others, play it thru your car speakers when driving using an adaptor and charger. And it fits in your pocket.
