    Default Why I Dislike?

As most of you no I am not a fan of Mr Hopkins,I will give him credit
were credit is dew he is one crafty dirty SOB and very hard too beat.?
You have to admire how he gets the ref on his side, holding and hitting
on the blind side, pushing standing on his opponent's feet.
Yes admire we could say his skill's, good at what he doe's?some would
say throe back to the old day's may be?
Will I ever like this fighter,at this point in time no but you never no.

If credit were dew there'd be a lot of moist fighters right about now

But seriously, Hopkins is a bit like Marmite. Love him or hate him. But when you look at his record he always seems to be able to find the W and that's at least to be admired at his advanced age. I quite enjoyed his Pascal 2 performance. He looked fantastic yet vulnerable. Something we haven't really seen from Hopkins before.

Is he good on toast? Can you use him to make a hot beefy broth? Is it possible to use essence of Hopkins in a stew or combine him with butter over pasta? He's not that much like Marmite then.

I can respect his ability and sometimes enjoy his fights, his press ups mid Pascal made me laugh but generally not my cup of tea

I'm not sure if I can understand this based on the spelling, but watch Hopkins' earlier stuff, he had a lot of skill and was more entertaining as well. I think to watch a guy in his 40's and expect him to be exciting is silly, especially when he is more of a counter puncher, but even then watch him beat up Pavlik, Jean Pascal, he can be exciting even now.

Like many,I have been watching Hopkins for A very long time(Seems like this Guy has been around for several decades)and as long as there is One dollar for this hypocrit in Boxing he may never go away.

At one time early on I was A big Fan of Hopkins the person, because he seemed to be A Patriot of the sport, and would constantly speak out about the injustices in Boxing regarding Fighter`s/Promoters and the like,...But in the end Hopkins was only looking out for himself,...

As I remember,Hopkins could`nt sell Shit for A dog to sniff, and was bitching and complaining to anyone that would listen that he was being taken advantage of,...then Lou Dibella basically took A Gamble on Hopkins and got him A big fight with Trinidad,...Hopkins beats the Great Trinidad,..and get`s the smallest bit of Main stream recognition,....Then somehow Dibella was able to negotiate A meaningless Title defence for Hopkins, against one of the Biggest no-hopers you ever seen,in the Proud Fighting city of Fhiladelphia,..at this point Hopkins had been holding the MiddleWeight Title hostage, for what was mostly A string of undersized, and undeserving Contender`s for quite awhile, the opponent that night was I believe A Guy named Carpentier..?...A french Men,as I recall...

The live gate I think was somewhwere around Five Thousand or so,....Hopkins purse was One Million Dollars for this meaningless Showcase,....Larry Merchant in all his Glory let Hopkins Alley Cat out of the bag however during Hopkins Ring walk,.....That for all of the injustices that Hopkins had been screaming about for years,in regards to Fighters and Promoters,...That in this fight where Hopkins was in controll of the revanue, that Carpentier would be paid A pultry 7 percent of the Purse...?....What A Hipocrit...!

Next, long time trainor and Mentor Bouie Fisher, who had stuck with Hopkins for years, and was literally paid Peanuts, get`s ousted purely due to Hopkins greed,...Lou Dibella,...also ousted,...More Greed from Hopkins...Even now, with the novelty of his old ass still fighting he still cant draw even when matched with the top fighters in his Div.

Hopkins would rather CHEAT to win, then to lose fair and square,...That`s not my kind of Fighter,...also in most of his fight`s he is incredably boring,...Safety first Dirty Fighter.

His Racist comments are unequaled, and would have probably caused outrage if anyone really gave A Crap,or if the Mainstream had A clue that he even existed.I wish Hopkins would just go away already.

The Hopkins who dismantled and stopped Felix Trinidad was one of my alltime favorite fighters, and I can't help but admire the him for his later performances against Tarver, Pavlik, and Pascal. Having said that, I just wish he'd do a rematch with Dawson and then retire, i've seen all I want to see of Bernard Hopkins.

I can see why people admire him as a fighter, but as a person I don't hold him in high regard,
don't get me wrong this is not a sport, for choir boy's.?
We can all say he is no roll model, bad boy come good? may be to some, do we judge him in
or out of the ring or on the both it's up to the individual.?
    That's my take Hopkins.?

Hop probably isn't that bad of a role model for kids who've gotten in trouble with the law. I can't say I like him much as a person, but I do respect him for what he's been able to do with his life, nothing was given to him.

As a fighter, Hopkins' performance against Trinidad was one of the best, if not the best demonstrations of boxing ability combined with punching power that I can ever remember witnessing. It was a thing of beauty the way he dismantled Trinidad, and then punctuated his work with a KO in the final round.

This is why, deep down, i'll always be a bit of a fan of Hopkins:
