Dirty fighters, the exact words they used in the book, so you are the man too.

Why do you think these fighters were allowed to get this reputation?
You know fighters, managers, and trainers were complaining about it, so why wasn't something done?

We put a lot of the responsibility for enforcing the rules on the referee, but when they do take points away there are always plenty of boos, and pissed off fans.
    Any thoughts?

I think Holyfield gets a bad rap. He's had a few knocks for head butts but it's a far far cry from trying to literally break arms, thumbs in eyes and go Walking Dead zombie on a guy.

    Agapito Sanchez for $100 Alex?

Wish I had more time to play here. Pretty busy and work alone from 8 to 4.

A list of dirty fighters is not complete w/o Resto, Norfolk, Saddler, Hopkins, McFadden, Fullmer, Flynn and Ketchel.

Norfolk is responsible for thumbing Greb to the point of causing his blindness. Grebs dirty tactics are blown way out of proportion. You punch him in the junk and he’s going to return the favour. We also need to keep in mind the kind of gloves in use era by era. The gloves Greb, Norfolk, Langford wore were thumbing friendly. Sammy was blind as a bat in his last year or two of fighting. And the padding would shift also so in many cases mid way it was bare knuckle with a leather covering.
The evolution of the glove is under reported. In addition guys like Dempsey, Greb etc still had grappling as part of their training.

Lots of other guys. Winky had a nice follow up elbow like Laporte. Many, many fighters go low. Casamayor would sucker punch his mother and we all know about James Butler.
Gomez knew where the ref was and Ali made a living holding behind the head and hitting. Nigel Benn liked rabbit shots.

    Good stuff bud.

not sure if it's been mentioned , but Margarito also adds to the list. Current fighters I can think of are :
    Mares
Ward ( uses some dirty tactics)
    Bradley ( headbutts ala Holyfield)
    B-Hop
