It's not much, but it's a start. Cuban fighters would be a very welcome addition to the pro ranks. It's shameful that it's been that long (half a century) since Cuban fighters could aspire to anything else other than amateur boxing. Sure, you've got your defectors and all that... but it's just not the same.

Good read, right step to the right direction. Should be interesting .. maybe one day we will have a cuban rivalry with mexicans or ricans in the pros.

What puzzles me is why a place like the Dominican Republic is not among the great boxing nations of the Caribbean and Central America. Cuba will certainly emerge as a force in the pros and will undoubtedly have rivalries with both Mexico and Puerto Rico. But I've always wondered why more elite fighters don't come out of the DR.
