A true legend of the game. People seem to underrate him today because he doesn't have a "pretty" record like a lot of today's pampered guys, but what they don't realize is that Couture has been fighting the best in the world since the start of his career. There's very little padding in his record.

Agreed! Would be nice to sport a Rocky Marciano undefeated record, but when Randy was new to MMA, he took on the cream of the crop.

What is amazing and part of his appeal for me, is that he did what most young MMA fighters do but at almost twice their age!

He also spent much of his career fighting bigger guys at HW. Had he always fought at LHW that record would be better.

which allowed him to share the record of being UFC champ in 2 diff weight classes!

IIRC BJ Penn is the other champ.

Guys like Randy and BJ are true legends because they were adventure seekers. They weren't interested in padding records with meaningless fights, they always wanted to get in there with the best, regardless of weight division, and to me that's a true warrior.

How many times did Randy go into a fight where he was given little to no chance of winning (Vitor, Tito, Chuck, Sylvia, ect) and totally dominate.

agreed, even Kevin Randleman and Pedro Rizzo iirc were favored to win.

That's true. Even Maurice Smith was coming off the Coleman win and favored over him. So many shocking wins.
