Thread: How did Vaughn Bean get TWO title shots?

In what world does a record like this get you two title shots- one against Michael Moorer and another against Evander Holyfield?

He fared well against Moorer... wasn't so spectacular against Holyfield... but how on earth did he get a shot?? Sorry, TWO shots??

The late Butch Lewis had signed him a few years earlier.

It could have been worse had AKINWANDE not contracted hepatitis and dropped out vs Holyfield. Blame Don King, it was all him. Idiot also had a pregnant woman signed to fight Christy Martin on the card Bean was certified terrible. He couldn't fight a slight fever. Moorer "fight" ranks up there with the ugliest, stankiest title fights you'll ever want to commit suicide during. Promise!

I haven't seen either fight, or the guy at all. Weird record for sure, he beat nobody at all and rarely fought anyone with more wins than losses, but obviously wasn't afraid. Must have had some kind of following? Club fighter with a fanbase and good promotion maybe?

Butch Lewis and Don King with a glossy unblemished but misleading record and a room full of monkeys. Pretty much it brother. He fought a flat Moorer who just went through the motions, so bad Teddy Atlas bailed on him as trainer the next day.
