Juan Manuel Marquez seems not really interested in the Pacquiao 5th fight. What could be his main reason of not fighting Pacquiao again?

He feels the rivalry is over and doesnt want to ruin it by risking another fight.. smart move..

He's already a multi multi millionaire and few million dollars more isnt going to make much difference in his life.. satisfaction of knowing that u defeated ur arch enemy and the legacy is more important ..

What if there was a 5th fight and marquez lost by decision.. do we need a 6th fight? This shit would never end....

It was a clean knockout and the only knockout in their rivalry so its over.. marquez would be foolish to fight pac again..

Probably that he doesn't want to make millions of dollars again. I mean if I'm confident that I can beat an opponent and make millions of dollars off of it I wouldn't fight him either right?

I think he knows that he was getting the shit beat out of him in that fight despite actually knocking manny down for the first time in 4 fights. his nose was broken and face was a bloody mess. I'm sure that he knows that fight manny went all out and if he didn't land that punch to knock him out he would've for sure lost either by wide unanimous decision or stoppage. For the record I think marquez won the 3rd fight but he was getting the crap beat out of him the 4th. He doesn't want the fight because with out that punch he would've lost and he knows he probably won't land it again.

It's difficult to top his spectacular KO6 performance in the 4th fight (can he KO Pacquiao in 5 or less rounds?). Why risk of losing some luster of that spectacular KO?

You would have to be pretty slow in the head to want to fight pacman again and marquez aint dumb. He's an accountant so he knows how to weigh shit..

Beating him 4 times is enough. Marquez sees no point in beating him 5 times

If there is a principle involved, could be that he's not willing to accept a much smaller cut than Pac would be getting again? Or just knowing that Arum won't pay him what he could or should do. Of course having the huge KO to close the books on their rivalry is something, but we're talking about a prizefighter here. If Bob Arum told him he'd make the fight next and there would be a 50/50 purse split, Marquez would probably sign on that day. Why else fight at all? He has nothing to prove and is an ancient featherweight. Who else can he make close to the money against.

He's financially set and he isn't going to do better than leaving Pacquiao sniffing the spot where he was standing.

He spent nearly a decade fighting this guy tooth and nail, and getting raw deals by the judges. The 2nd fight was very close and could have went either way, but he won 1 and 3 and got jobbed.

That brutal KO gave him the edge on their rivalry. My guess is he doesn't want to fight again and have Manny take another dubious decision and take the edge back.

For me 2 was clearer than 1 & 3. I had the 2nd fight 8 rounds to 4 in his favour.

That's all very true, but I doubt any of that would deter him if the money was right. Besides, if he isn't confident that he could KO Manny again, he shouldn't be fighting anyone. I don't want to see a fifth fight, but where else does he go?
Anyone know what he made for the 4th fight, or against Bradley in comparison? I'd imagine he could fight any 3 guys and not make as much as he would given a closer split with Pacman.

$6 million against both. Bear in mind Pac's money was $25m/Bradley's $4m. So obviously a Pac fight is worth shitloads more than anyone else.

I think I had it 7-5 for Pacquiao but it's been a while since I saw it, and even then it was obvious that you could easily score it 7-5 or even wider the other way for JMM.

When history looks back on it, JMM will always be that thorn in Pac's side. Like Ken Norton was to Ali (I thought he won all 3 fights). JMM was just a guy who stylistically was poison for Pac, always was and always will be.

HBO reported JMM was seeking twenty million for the fifth fight. They said it during one of those twenty four seven shows leading up to the Bradley fight.

He's KO'd Pac, he feels like he's been robbed a few times vs Pac already....what more is there to do?

At this point JMM can do whatever he wants to
