You know how professional poker players say amateurs are the hardest to get a read on? They tend to overplay and or underplay certain hands, and are subsequently unpredictable? That is Maidana's chance, he is so far out of Floyd's league that he just may hit Floyd with something that he doesn't expect. Significantly less then a punchers chance, really. In fact his power is being way over valued leading up to this fight.

    No, for several reasons.

I don't think this is a complete gimme like most people think. Maidana is a rough customer who hits hard and is relentless, and Floyd isn't as fast of hand and feet as he once was, so I can see Maidana crowding Mayweather and making it rough for him.

A few things that make Maidana and interesting fight is that he's a lot grittier and more relentless than the guys Floyd has been fighting as of late. I don't see him giving up mentally, because he's used to being the slower guy in there who has to eat 3 or 4 punches to land 1. He is also a lot more unorthodox in his punching than guys like Canelo, and we saw that in the Broner fight. The shots he hurt Broner with were all from crazy angles, or punches that changed trajectory mid-flight. He's very effective on the inside and throws from crazy angles, so guaranteed he will land on Floyd on the inside if Floyd choses to go into a shell in front of him.

Other than that, I just don't think Maidana quite has the one-punch power needed to catch and blast Mayweather out of there. He might hurt him ala Mosley, but Floyd has showed a fantastic chin and ability to remain calm under duress, so even if Maidana hurts him I don't see him being able to close the show.

And as clever as Maidana can be with his power shots, he really only has one gear, and if he's tagging Floyd with any consistency in the early rounds, Floyd is intelligent enough to make the adjustments (unlike stupid Broner).

I'm looking forward to the fight, I'm hoping that Maidana can make Floyd uncomfortable in there, land some blows and maybe a couple of elbows, make it a street fight. And there's always that possibility that Floyd gets old overnight and all of a sudden his reflexes and punch resistance are diminished and Maidana cashes in a lottery ticket ala Antonio Tarver.

To put it in perspective, the odds for Canelo-Mayweather were 2-1 or 3-1 for Mayweather. The odds for Maidana-Mayweather, with Maidana coming off arguably the biggest victory of his career are 13-1 for Mayweather. This is the definition of a gimme fight. I don't see any way Chino wins. Mayweather might actually get his first stoppage since Hatton.

This is the Broner vs Maidana fight all over again, all of us are picking Floyd, and some of us are secretly hoping Maidana gets lucky.

Why are you hoping Maidana wins??

    Aren't you American??

I bet Argentines aren't hoping Floyd wins.

Yes we are hoping. It's just a shame a lot of us are going to drop a good amount of money to see what we hope will be an almost impossible upset. Maidana isn't a bad fighter but I think he will look like an amateur facing Floyd. I would love to know what's goin through his mind. What does he think he can do that 45 others haven't done. I think he is going to get flabbergasted with Floyd's movement and he may spend a lot of time looking for one punch.

I have spent sometime reading articles and opinions on the fight and I have not come accross any That think Maidana will be victorious. They all talk about Chinos history of pulling of upsets which is true but this is Floyd he is fighting, I don't think it will.happen Saturday night.

Does anyone else think I'm right that Chino will get frustrated early in the fight and spend his time looking for that one punch.

I hate watching lopsided fights but Floyd is amazing to watch. I am always impressed with his jab. I think he has the best jab of anyone currently fighting. It allows him to control so much if the fight. I think Floyd is dying to give his fans a kO or stoppage as that is one critique I hear even from the Floydboys. It is possible that Chino will get frustrated and wild and Floyd could actually get at least at stoppage.

Anyway, I'll be watching the fight to see Floyd's jab and hoping for a miracle from Chino

The only time Chino can get a lucky punch, like those awkward overhands, is as always in the first 2-3 rounds. Guerrero gave Floyd a fair bit of trouble in the very early part of the fight, after which it was all downhill, of course.
