    Default Minecraft

Why is everyone obsessed with this game?

It looks cheap and tacky but kids have bought the game, book and posters for it. The geeky IT people at work talk about it but I do not see what is the fascination.

My middle son is hooked on it. Spends all his pocket money running a server and spends a little too much time playing it. If he wasnt like Sheldon Cooper in school I'd have a problem with it but if it aint broke...

I dont get video games at all, I can be momentarity wowed by some good graphics but thats about it.

The graphics are poor but typical Swedish fad taking over like Abba, Saab and Urika Johnson.

What kind of game is this? How does it look? What are they trying to do? Is it anything like WarCraft which is weirdly popular with kids out here. Or at least was anyway. I don't really pay too much attention.

Ah, nothing to do with geeky Warcraft. Still, it looks pretty bad. Don't worry Master. My theory is that society is dumbing down with too much idiot box and sports overload. In this case dumb gaming is an element. The fact that you are resisting is a sign of progress. You know it isn't very good. It's how I feel about lots of things all the time and it really is because most things are nonsense.

Memphis kid and a lot of others who are very bright are really into this game. You build your own world and almost get lost in it.

Oh, I see. It is only you who are resistant and you don't get it all. Maybe that's just for kids then, you have nothing to get Master. It's just boring kids stuff and their games are not a patch on more adult games. Let them be and enjoy whatever you want to enjoy.

It's an unbelievably simple idea that allows people with very little knowledge of coding to create anything from simple buildings right up to entire simulations of massive environments and world's. It's about as far away from dumbing down as you could possibly get. It encourages creativity far more than even the most supposedly open world 'adult' game.

That is what my son says he is learning and it is very educational.

All three are beautifully crafted and have stood the test of time. Though I wouldn't want to listen to Ulrika sing, Drive Abba or stick my John Thomas up a Saab.

Have not heard of it? I started State Of Decay two days ago, and have been stuck on a water tower shitting myself since.

Yep, over here in Canada too. My 9 year old daughter and a bunch of her friends are all nuts about Minecraft.

I don't understand the attraction at all.

She's more of an outdoor kid, but on rainy days, she'd play Minecraft for hours if I didn't shut it down on her.
