Thread: Froch - ready to retire.....?

Would love to see him fight in Vegas and he deserves to get that fight and cap a fantastic career but if he can't I think he should quit.
Froch has been in some tough tough fights and nobody wants to see him damaged goods.

He Should retire. But when you earned £8 million in your last fight , it's understandable that he's considering fighting again, can't blame him for that. Also can't blame him for wanting to fight Chavez in Vegas, it's very winnable and it ticks his "Vegas box." I can't blame him for lacking the motivation to fight Degale either.
But , to "cement his legacy" , which is all he ever bangs on about , he needs a meaningful fight and unfortunately for him, there isn't one out there.
Ward - Froch doesn't want to know, and even if he did , Ward's contractual problems and also probably his stubbornness make it impossible.
Kovalev or Stevenson - Froch has said many times in the past that he has no intention to move up because he walks the street at around his fighting weight . I think that's fair enough, why should he put himself at a disadvantage? by the same context , that rules out a fight with GGG for all the same reasons .
Groves - Call me crazy, but I do believe that Groves Could beat Froch , I think he fucked up in the 2nd fight, and he's had 2 goes and in all honesty, doesn't deserve the chance. so again, I don't blame Froch for dismissing that.
Kessler - Waste of time and meaningless.
so, as much as I don't particularly rate Froch as a boxer, you have to give him the credit he deserves and wish him well in his retirement.

Froch has had a magnificent career. I've watched him since he was an amateur, and it's interesting to see how he has changed his style over the years.

Clearly, he is a very talented guy - but he is not the most talented boxer you will ever see when you stack him up against people like Floyd or even Andre Ward - but he has made the absolute most of his talents, and I really respect that.

He has gambled, in every recent fight, that his conditioning, his chin and his strength will be too much for his opponents over 12 rounds. It's been a good gamble, but it does mean he won't be fighting at the age Hopkins is!

Slick movers with excellent basic technique will always give him problems, and he can be outboxed.

He has nothing left to prove, so I'd like to see him take one more payday, a bit like Joe. Callaghan did against Roy Jones, before riding off into the sunset.

I think Froch is taking a long and well earned rest but I think he will be back. He is making big money and he will want to carry on earning the same amounts while he can. I think his preferred options would be

Chavez for the money,

Ward for redeeming his legacy,

Kessler as they are tied one a piece and

Degale to say he beat another young hungry fighter which Joe Calzaghe never did against him.

I'd call him a throwback in the sense that he doesn't run from a challenge. His resume is so complete, it's a shame for any of us to ridicule his few losses-afterall isn't that what oldtimers claim made the 50's golden? If the best fight the best...somebody's gotta lose.

Dirrell put it this way; "You gotta respect Froch who has a real fighter's mentality"

Chavez would be a good sendoff, but is Chavez even discipline enough to come in under 170lbs at this point?
